I had a wonderful experience at this sushi restaurant. The fish was cut beautifully and with great attention to detail, which really elevated the flavor and texture of every piece. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy a good meal. The overall quality was absolutely worth the price. Everything was fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. I will definitely be coming back!

Food was delicious-the sushi was superb! The bluefin tuna and salmon nigiri were perfection. They also had salmon toro which was amazing. Beautiful plating. People were kind and awesome! They went ABOVE and BEYOND! Came in with our one year old baby, they had a high chair and treated us with incredible hospitality! The owner offered her avocados! Baby approved this place! They even were so kind to give us a matcha cheesecake with a candle to celebrate her birthday! What a great place and such kind people! Thank you so much for making Saturday night awesome and welcoming for us and our baby! If you’re looking for delicious sushi and food this is the place you don’t want to miss! I decided to visit UME Sushi after seeing their 5-star rating with 100+ reviews. I was honestly a little skeptical, but the photos looked great, so I wanted to give it a try.
When we arrived in the evening, there was one sushi chef and one server. A couple was seated at the bar, and another couple walked in right before us. Since it wasn’t very busy, we expected the food to come out fairly quickly.
The server was friendly, but there were several service issues throughout the night. She recommended the tuna cheek special and asked whether I wanted it as nigiri or sashimi. I clearly said nigiri. We also ordered a Coke Zero and sparkling water, but she initially brought Sprite instead. After I mentioned it, she corrected it. A few minutes later, she came back again to ask how I wanted the tuna cheek served, even though I had already specified nigiri. At that point, we just assumed she might have had a long day and didn’t think too much of it.
We ordered the sushi and sashimi platter for two. The couple at the bar received food while we were still ordering drinks, and the couple who walked in just before us received their food about 15 minutes later. Meanwhile, we continued waiting.
After about 20 minutes, the tuna cheek nigiri finally arrived. Unfortunately, it was served with sesame leaf underneath the fish, and the sesame aroma completely overpowered the flavor of the tuna. It just didn’t work for me.
After that, we waited quite a bit longer. Another couple came in and sat at the sushi bar and received several dishes almost immediately, while we were still waiting for the rest of our order. In total, it took about 45 minutes for our full meal to arrive.
Presentation-wise, the sushi and sashimi looked great, and the fish itself was fresh and good quality. However, the rice was disappointing — it tasted like plain white rice rather than properly seasoned sushi rice. That was another letdown.
I truly believe this restaurant has potential. The fish quality is there, and the presentation is nice. However, the service needs improvement, and more attention should be given to the fundamentals, especially the sushi rice. I was really excited to try a great sushi meal here, and maybe my expectations were just too high.
I hope they continue improving because the foundation is definitely there.

I wanted to check this new place out after seeing a guest talk highly of it. Right away the staff was polite & welcoming. I started with their green tea which was delicious and they kept it refilled. I decided to try their version of Kani salad, it was so good and had some spicy pickles under the crab. The Godzalla roll sounded like a winner and it was! I didn’t even need soy sauce, the chef had it full of flavor the way it was. Lastly I tried ponzu tuna….he added a small amount of mango. My tastebuds weren’t sure what was going on but I learned all their tuna is bluefin! That’s incredible, I will be back to try their version in house tamago and other rolls too. Thanks for an amazing experience!!

Hidden gem! Stopped by for lunch and ordered too much. The karaage and Mayo sauce was great and not too greasy. Bento box chicken was so tender and delicious! I had to try the Fresh sushi from Japan and it was worth it! Service was excellent and friendly. Definitely recommend!

A beautiful restaurant with amazing food and a calm atmosphere. We found this place by chance after a google seach; and we will definitely be coming back. Cici, the owner is very friendly and could explain the menu well.
Me and my mother came back again the next day and it was just as good! The seaweed salad is unique and delicious, with fresh seaweed being served with a house made dressing (the regular imagined salad was there too). I also got the green tea bobba mochi for dessert and its as good as it looks.

My wife and I had our Christmas dinner here. This was hands down the best sushi we’ve had in the area. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. Our server was extremely nice and helpful. And the restaurant was very clean and relaxing. We sat at the sushi bar and had an amazing meal. We will be back for sure!

This place is incredible, we were blown away! They literally fly in their bluefin tuna and other fish straight from Japan and pick it up fresh from the airport themselves. You can really taste how fresh everything is, the quality is on another level. Their karaage was also the best I’ve ever had, crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned.
The couple who owns it are so kind and clearly passionate about what they do. As a sushi lover, this is easily the best sushi I’ve ever had. We’re already looking forward to coming back and trying more!

Great prices for awesome quality, they use really high quality fish. They use only Blue Fin Tuna on all rolls that use Tuna. The owner even flies to Japan to get different fish every few months. That way you can try different fish then the standard ones you normally get in the area. I got 2 rolls today I started with the Angel Roll (no picture) then I had a Chef’s Choice, which turned out to be the Godzilla Roll(Picture in review). Both were delicious but I thought the Godzilla was the best. I don’t go to Destin often but when I do I will be back.
Staff is very friendly and did a good job of telling you what you were eating and were it was sourced from.
