I work on the railroad and recently took a mobile position in North Dakota that has me passing through many small towns. My coworker told me that I have to try the homemade breakfast sandwiches at Anamoose Cafe. He wasn’t lying. Connie is a sweet lady who makes you feel like you just came home and mom/grandma is making supper. She’s always busy making homemade soups, sandwiches, pasties and more. You can’t beat her fresh baked breads and sweets, and her prices are almost too low. Make sure to bring enough cash to place your order and leave her a well deserved tip.

Just had the breakfast buffet and caramel rolls- everything was delicious! Friendly, informal, down home atmosphere. I can’t recommend this place enough!

This might be the best restaurant I’ve had in North Dakota. If you’re in North Dakota it’s a must stop. Met my wife here, we’ve been married for 10 years since. The cheese and peas are to die for.

This was absolutely the sweetest and most perfect place to grab some food while driving through. It is literally like having Sunday dinner – I grabbed ribs, chicken, Mac and cheese, and potroast. The owner is a gem. She was only going to charge me $4. I gave her $10! Everything was delicious!

Let me tell you this place is a gem. We were out in the middle of nowhere. We put in a search for restaurant in Anamoose (population 230). We were traveling from Kentucky out west and we were on the way to Teddy Roosevelt National Park and just traveling through. We googled for something near me and The Anamoose Bakery and Cafe came up. It is a little hole in the wall place, (my favorite kind). We walked in and it smelled like your grandma’s house during a family reunion. The food was insanely good. All home made. Pork Chops and gravy, Broccoli casserole, Meatballs and gravy, creamed peas, mashed potato’s and gravy, toast points, a cheese sauce over them. Fried Chicken, Ribs, Rolls, Ice Cream for desert. It was a help yourself buffet set up, all you care for. I went back (which I rarely do these days) but it was too good to pass up. The proprietor asked if I wanted a sundae for desert and I declined and told her I had another meatball and some more broccoli casserole instead. I gave her 25 dollars for two of us and she said that is WAY too much! I made her keep it and it was worth every penny. It’s now 9:00 P.M. and I am still not hungry….

Stopped in just before lunch and was surprised by the delicious aroma when we walked in! There was a nice buffet with ham, meatballs in gravy, bbqued ribs, scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, creamed peas, rice and chicken w/veggies. All homemade food and everything was delicious! The locals were very friendly and learned a little of the area’s history from them. Kudo’s to the cook! We will definitely stop again when we go through that way.

Definitely a wonderful experience…each and every time. I have never had anything to eat that wasn’t the best ever; and, the desserts are to die for. Many wonderful bakery products to take home. And, without question, every item is healthy made with local berries and products. You won’t be disappointed. Hrs are Tuesday – Friday noon to 6pm.
