A little hard to find. Need to walk into the parking garage and there you can find the entrance. Order food at the bar. It was very good. Everyone loved the chowder and I liked the boom boom fish tacos. Great outdoor seating. Kids loved the chicken tenders and fries.

The atmosphere was lovely. The bartender was super efficient and a very nice guy. The fish and chips was so so good. So soft and fresh. LOADS of fries. The burger was cooked correctly, but could probably use a little salt. THE ONION RINGS, DAMN. Overall, it was great. Would go over and over again.

Went for dinner. Sat by the waterfront with nice view. Had to order at bar and service was good. Bought variety of food. All was good.

Food was great and the outdoor seating during sunset is what makes this place shine, but there wasn’t much service when we went. Bear in mind this is a bar, not a restaurant, so you order food at the bar, clean your own table and close the tab at the bar. Which sucks when you’re dining it, so don’t expect restaurant-styled service. Would recommend sitting out back in the outdoor section where it’s less noisy and can get an amazing view of the sunset.

I cannot recommend this place enough!! It is a little hard to find one of the entrances which is inside of a parking garage, but the other entrance is near the harbor shuttle and ferry landing. You order at the bar and there is plenty of seating options. There are lots of seats on the patio with a view of the harbor. The drinks and food are reasonably priced and cheap in comparison to the other bars and restaurants nearby. The pingpong table is a must!

Didn’t eat, but the drinks were cold, the view is amazing and the dart boards are legit. It’s a perfect dive bar; dark, hidden and tourist free.

My wife and I went out to celebrate a friends graduation from OCS. We decided to play a game of darts and the bar needed my wife’s ID to hold to make sure we returned the darts. When we went to return the darts the bartender told us that he did not have the ID. He then just turned around to serve other patrons instead of even looking for the ID. After flagging him down again, he told us multiple times that it was not his fault and there was nothing he could do. The manager got involved but was not much help either saying there was nothing he could do over and over. We asked if the bartender accidentally put the ID in his pocket but he refused to even check and told us to stop accusing him of stealing. I understand that accidents happen but their refusal to help even slightly is infuriating especially when they lose someone’s drivers license.

THEY STOLE MY ID. BARTENDER HAD VERY CREEPY VIBES. Very many other comments about the sketchiness of this place, I would not trust them or go here again.
My husband and I (28) were in town to celebrate a friends graduation from OCS and visited this bar with his classmates. We had to give them my ID in order to play darts and after about an hour we returned the darts and asked for my ID back but the bartender shrugged and (without even looking) said he didn’t have it and there was nothing he could do. He then ignored us and helped other costumers. We had to flag him down and ask again about my ID and he then finally looked in the “normal spot” they keep IDs and confirmed that they didn’t have it. None of them seemed to care that they either lost my ID or “accidentally” gave it to another costumer and emphasized that it wasn’t their fault. The manager finally got involved and actually tried looking but still didn’t have luck and just got annoyed that I kept asking them about it.

The other bartender refused to look through his pockets to see if he misplaced it which gave me a super weird feeling that he either stole it/sold it/who knows what else!

Definitely would not recommend.

Googled dive bar and it’s definitely not that! But loved it here anyway. The staff are down to earth and attentive. Homey vibe for sure. There is a marina and a beautiful sunset views. Large selection of drinks and beers. I did not try the food. So if you’re a dive bar person, there’s not much to choose from in Newport, but smugglers waterfront is great!
