Neat little place. Wanted a Chicago dog and they had them. Pretty good. Steaming the buns would have gone next level. Just a little feedback. Place is really cool inside. Good service as well. I’ll be back for sure.

My BIL and I ate at H.C. today. We both have been here before. First, it is a fun restaurant to visit as there are many lunchboxes and thermoses adorning the walls, some of them you may recognize! They also have decorated with Waterloo signage and old downtown Waterloo photos. Loved the pic of Dan : we miss him! We ordered a California Dog and a ham and cheese panini. We got chips and the delicious pablano potato salad (Katie’s recipe). The staff was friendly and helpful. They feature gourmet paninis, pressed hoagies, butter croissants, pita flatbreads, wraps and all beef hot dogs. Prices and reasonable. I recommend checking out this restaurant and, dine downtown Waterloo!

I went to Hungry Charlie’s Lunchbox for the first time today and I will definitely be back! I tried the rueben panini and poblano potato salad. As the picture shows, there was a lot of meat in the panini, along with plenty of sauerkraut, cheese, and dressing. So good! It was one of the best rueben’s I’ve had. The potato salad was also very flavorful with large chunks of potatoes in a poblano sauce. Very delicious! The service was excellent as well and I really enjoyed the 1950’s decor (as well as the lovely historic building that this restaurant is in! Gorgeous ceiling and building!). Definitely a fantastic restaurant and an inexpensive, delicious meal (my sandwich was $9.99 and the side was $1.99). Can’t wait to come back for more yummy food!

Stopped here on a trip and are very happy we did. The place smells amazing and the food is awesome! I had the chefs salad and broccoli cheese soup. Both were wonderful. My husband had the chili cheese monster dog with house made chili and his was really good, too. We’ll definitely stop here again. The service was fantastic, too, and the decor is cute – all antique themed lunchboxes.

Me and my family came from Georgia. Stoped by and got hit with wicked good food, service, and atmosphere.
I’ve had more Cuban sandwiches than I can count. It was so good I forgot to take a picture of it. The delicious sandwiches came out very quick to but even if it took forever the conversation with the awesome staff would’ve made it fly by.

Took something to go and saw a long hair in it. Absolutely disgusting. The girl who prepared it ik she must have seen it while preparing it and still did nothing.

I’ve been in a few times and haven’t been disappointed yet. I tried the turkey & bacon club on my first visit and it was great – I added avocado to mine, but I’m sure it would be great without it as well. The poblano potato salad I got the next time was AMAZING!!! I could eat that by itself for a meal! It has great flavor and isn’t something you can get anywhere else in town. The grilled cheese will be my next choice when I stop in, I saw others order it and it looked so gooey and delicious! Definitely a great little spot in town with cozy decor/atmosphere. I love that they also have products from other local businesses…a great addition to the Cedar Valley for sure.
