The food came out quick and it was gorgeous.. so much flavour and plenty of it !
Really enjoyed it and I’ll definitely be back again
I ordered takeaway the Casa del Alma Burrito, which according to the menu should include a mix of chicken, beef and pork, shredded cabbage, fresh chillies, served in tortilla wrap, with aroso rice, beans, guacamole, salsa fresca, coriander.
What I received was very different. The wrap only contained chicken, beef and probably pork, some shredded cabbage and sweet pepper. There were no fresh chillies, no rice, no beans, and no guacamole or salsa inside the wrap at all.
When I asked about the sauces, I was told there were no small pots available and that there was “some inside”, although there clearly wasn’t.
They give me complimentary drink because of the issue with a sauces pots. Thank you for that.
Unfortunately this didn’t feel like a burrito as described on the menu, just a basic wrap missing most of the listed ingredients. It was quite disappointing, especially as the menu description sets a very different expectation.
I hope this feedback helps improve consistency between what’s advertised and what’s actually served.
From the moment we walked through the door, we knew we were in for something special. Tucked right in the heart of the town centre, it’s the perfect spot to grab an authentic bite before or after exploring the area — but honestly, once you’re inside, you won’t want to leave.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a mix of traditional Mexican charm and quirky, fun details that give it a warm and vibrant personality. Think bold colours and little touches that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a fiesta. Everything was spotless, too — clearly well looked after.
I started off with a spicy margarita that hit the perfect balance of heat and citrus — a bold twist on a classic that instantly set the tone. The food was nothing short of spectacular. We shared a variety of dishes: tacos, quesadillas, and crispy churros dusted in cinnamon sugar. Every plate was immaculately presented, and you could tell that great care had gone into both the preparation and the plating.
The standout? The boozy mojito cheesecake. Genuinely one of the most unique desserts we’ve ever tried — zingy, creamy, with a little kick. Just divine.
Midway through the evening, the whole restaurant was invited to join in a spontaneous burst of fun — sombreros came out, music turned up, and everyone got up for a quick dance break with free tequila shots all around. It was festive, hilarious, and brought the whole room together in a shared moment of joy. Where else do you get that?
The staff were just as memorable as the food — warm, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. They explained the menu in detail, made great recommendations, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Special mention to the owner, Matei, who clearly pours his heart into the place. His passion for authentic Mexican cuisine shines through in every aspect of the experience.
This isn’t just dinner — it’s a celebration of flavour, culture, and good vibes. We left full, happy, and already planning our return. Casa del Alma is a must-visit if you’re in or around Darlington.
We’ll definitely be back — ¡hasta pronto!
