A cidery with a lot of excellent options, a great happy hour menu (from 3-5pm), a good food selection, and a nice atmosphere. I’m typically more of a beer guy, but I really enjoyed the cider I had here. It was fresh, crisp, cold, and it was cheap because I ordered it during happy hour. We also got some chips and dip, again on a happy hour discount, and the chips were good but the dip was fantastic. The building itself is on the smaller side but comfortable with a lot of plants, and there is an outdoor seating area as well. We got this recommendation from a passenger on the flight to Portland, and are very happy we were able to check it out!

We went to the Bauman’s fall cider fest in October and knew we wanted to try more of their ciders. We came on a pretty busy Saturday night, but even when the indoor seating filled up, there was a lot of open seating outside. The outdoor seating had warmers, so even in November, I wasn’t cold without a jacket. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the bartender who informed us of a private event happening so it would be walk up service only, which was nice because a lot of walk up bar service places seem to assume all the guests know that as soon as they arrive. We got the All the Berries, Raspberry Peach, and Strawberry ciders. They were all good, but the All the Berries was definitely my favorite. We didn’t get any food, but the pizza we saw did look really good. It was a fun, casual vibe and I would definitely recommend stopping in for some ciders!

We had such a wonderful time here, and we can’t wait to return!

Drinks: We started with a flight of fruity ciders, and they were fantastic. The peach cider was smooth and refreshing. The loganberry drink was fruity and flavorful, and it was not too sweet. We also tried the mixed berry drink, and it kind of tasted like cherries; the flavor shone through.

Starters: We loved the bread and butter. The bread was crispy. The butter was rich and sharp, with a flavor that lingered in the best way. The plum butter offered a deep, caramelized note. The richness of the butter tamed the sesame’s nuttiness (the sesame was on the bread).

Salad: The chicory salad was a delightful surprise. I normally avoid chicory due to its bitterness, but this preparation was anything but bitter. The squash was tender and flavorful, and the crispy bits added the perfect contrast in texture. It was balanced, fresh, and satisfying.

Small Plates: The salmon roll was nice and crispy, but we felt like it could have used a pop of something. Some capers would have helped! I still enjoyed it, and it is excellent if you like milder flavors.

We also had a mellow meatball soup dish. The flavors were a little too mild.

Final Thoughts: Overall, we appreciated the thoughtful curation of flavors—nothing felt out of place, and the milder dishes had their own place.

We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu!

Baumans restaurant on Oak is clean and comfortable. It has an outside eating area too. It’s a great opportunity to taste their ciders, even some hard-to-find ones. They had just three beers on the menu though, so if you bring beer drinkers, they need to be OK with a small selection. Healthy menu. I had heard that the pizza is great, and that was true. Everyone was very friendly, it had a neighborhood eatery vibe. Good prices too!

I was so excited to hear that Bauman’s was taking over the former Ecliptic Moon Room, and I was not disappointed with the results.

The cider selection was excellent, as expected. The non-alcoholic selection was surprisingly excellent and definitely not expected. BUT, the food was the real shocker! Excellent, well-prepared, with a good assortment of dishes to satisfy any palate.

We had the asparagus and the braised pork with their housemade sourdough. Everything was perfectly prepared and flavorful, and as it was only the second weekend open, we were prepared to wait a bit, but it was quick and delicious.

I highly recommend you get out here before everyone figures out how amazing they are.

best cider in the state, probably the country, stoked they have a tap room now in SE Portland. They took over an amazing space, former beer brewery (Basecamp), with an epic patio and beautiful inside space. the food isn’t what you’d expect from a brewery/cidery, less comfort food and a little dainty for what I think most people expect from a place dedicated to ciders and beers on draft but it works at times. The burger was fantastic, and the pizza was alright too (wood fired on patio) but both only offered on special days of the week. Overall a big thumbs up, I’ll be back as I’m in the ‘hood and this has been desperately needed. Thank you.

A new neighborhood spot for an accomplished cidery. Bauman’s on Oak has an extensive artisanal cider selection perfectly paired with an elevated menu. Monthly pizza Sundays, a Wednesday evening burger or anytime, always excellent.

Very creative and classic ciders in a beautiful space with warm and friendly service! Loved the oolong cider as well as the collab with syrah and viognier! Food was also delicious, don’t miss the chocolate basque cake and crab roll!

Excellent cider and food in a beautiful building. Spacious and a wonderful spot to just hang out. Their ciders are all excellent and well crafted, with a lot of options for any taste, but especially a treat for those who like single-varietal ciders and ciders on the drier end.
