The burnt pieces are bitter and inedible. It’s lacking the usually sweet golden and crispy skin texture. Chicken meat itself is rubbery instead of the tender delicious bite like I remember of their classic 5 Spice chicken. When done right, this dish is amazing. I am not at all surprised at the lower ratings for this location.
They do a roaring take-out business, and you can always find a table or two of locals. The ambiance isn’t most people’s first date material, rather small groups of friends enjoying reasonably priced Vietnamese favorites, like garlic noodles, five spice chicken, and prawns with vermicelli noodles.
You don’t need rez, you don’t need to dress up, you’ll get excellent, friendly service. The deal is, you walk up to the counter on the left, order & pay. The right side will be full of aggressive food delivery guys waving their cell phones to get their orders to pick up. Time is money.
Anyway, Perilla will not disappoint.

Classic good pho. Beef was a bit too thick and there was too much green onion tbh
Wow: 0/1

I got the Curry Chicken Garlic Noodles, which are apparently a completely different format from all the other garlic noodle dishes. The noodles were in a curry sauce, completely obfuscating the normal garlic and butter flavors. Additionally, the chicken in this dish was in huge chunks that didn’t have a kiss of the grill. Overall, the dish was gigantic but really monotonous and bland mushy noodles.
From the dine in perspective, the amount of couriers mobbing the place makes it chaotic to both order and even sit, I know this is a problem with gig delivery in general, but they need to wrangle it into the corner better and probably adjust their fire times in the system.
I will definitely be back and hopefully will upgrade this to three stars when I get my normal 5 spice chicken garlic noodle order in house.
