My husband and I recently had the pleasure if dining at Sophie’s, in Saks Fifth Avenue in Sarasota. What an amazing experience. The decor both inside and outside so chic. We had Matty as our waitress. She was spot on with top notch service and a wonderful personality. We started with a bread basket of assorted toppings, delicious. He had the Tai chicken. Well prepared and perfect with seasoning. I had on of the best burger ever. Cooked and seasoned perfectly at medium rare with tasty fries. The manager checked on us several times, a nice touch you don’t see anymore. If you happen to be in the area at the mall, I highly recommend this restaurant. You will not be disappointed. We will be back.

Sophie’s is nothing short of an amazing experience! First time to dine at Sophie’s but it will certainly not be my last! Started with the Bread Basket W/Spreads, then onto the Grab Cake Appetizer. Then the Avenue Burger w/Truffle Fries arrived and words cannot express, what I can only say was, The Best Gourmet Burger I have ever eaten! To sum it all up… Sophie’s is a must for anyone seeking a Lunch Experience Extraordinaire!

I used to love this restaurant, and I went there the other day with my friend, and the food was just beyond awful very very disappointed as I used to love sophies, I said this food it was unique it was beautifully presented. I had a soup that was almost un edible a chicken base soup with pieces of hamburger in it and melted cheese. Honestly, it was disgusting and then I shared a hamburger with my friend which came out completely soggy, the worst was, there was absolutely no flavor. I won’t be back unless I hear that it has improved. Very sad.

Update: Dropped into Sophie’s with some out of town friends. Ditto on the previous review! The service team from the Manager Mark welcomed us back, definitely a nice touch. Their menu had been updated. Some stalwarts still remain. The pics hopefully tell the story! Ya gotta check out Sophie’s when your in the UTC area. (See pics at the end.)
We went to Sophie’s for lunch. Definitely a favourite. Hadn’t been back due to the Covid open/close routine. In a word the food is DELICIOUS! Staff are amazing. Mark runs a great operation. Pics DON’T do the food justice. Ya gotta check this place out.

The average rating is due to the lack of management oversight and uneven service. We were a party of four and all agreed the quality of the food was very good. Unfortunately, we did not have a good lunch experience overall because one of our choices (the burger) had to be sent back due to medically related dietary restrictions that were clearly communicated to our server at the outset. That led to our party not eating our food at the same time which is awkward and takes away from the experience. When the burger finally came out, it did so without the accompaniment (French fries), My party all ordered a fresh set of drinks to keep me company. In order for us to do so, we had to catch the attention of another person (not our server). We went on to dessert, tea and coffee….even this was not smooth because the one of two desserts originally on offer, apparently ran out, as informed by our server. The meal came out close to $250.00 dollars and we left an overly generous 19% tip. At no time, were we offered any kind of monetary restitution/accommodation, We were offered what I would characterize as perfunctory and un genuine, laissez-faire apologies for their service failure. All restaurants can make mistakes, it is how they are handled that matters. Dietary restrictions for medical reasons, need to be taken more seriously.

The Avenue is the best burger I’ve ever eaten…the texture of the meat and the accompaniments were perfect, the onions sweet, the tomato just right and the cheddar amazing. The truffle fries were very good too. My friend had the beet and burrata salad which was very good too.

Sophie’s at Saks is a real gem. If you are looking for a cozy place to grab a delicious bite, that could double as artwork. The kitchen is amazing with the combinations and variety of menu options. The wait staff is attentive to your every need, and make miracles happen. Save a little room for the bread pudding, even if you have to take it to go.

Wonderful experience! Excellent atmosphere, service, and food! The burger was delicious. My wife and I had the truffle fries, and started off outside with a great glass of “Rainstorm” white wine from Oregon.
