I walked into the diner for breakfast. I got more than Breakfast. I saw history in the way of news papers hanging on the was. It wasn’t just the head line they saved. No. It was the whole news paper. The oldest one I saw was the paper with the headline when the Titanic sunk. Which was next to a poster for the Titanic. Liking photography like I do. There are cameras of all kinds everywhere. The part that made my breakfast that much better was hearing Casey Kasem American top 40 playing. This diner is just your neighbor diner I a good way. Good food for a good price. As I paid my bill I met the owner. She told me her father bought the diner 40 years ago. She keeping her dad’s legacy a live. If you are in Lafayette stop in to the sunrise diner. And look at the history that is everywhere. Have lunch breakfast or just a cup of coffee at the counter and remember where you were on these days of history that’s around you.

I was in town for 3 weeks the first two weeks I stayed on the east side of the town this is my first time staying over on the left side of the town the bartender at the Holiday inn recommended sunrise for breakfast and it was amazing I ate there every morning. There was a server and then the cook whom I think owns the place I didn’t ask, food is amazing it’s quick the locals that were sitting there I saw the same people every day which reminds me of Home in a small town atmosphere that I’m a kin to! The food was excellent

I was hoping for a pleasant surprise here, but there was none. The biscuits were flat and the gravy was disappointing. The pork tenderloin was NOT flat like it should be. Fries came from frozen, and the ketchup bottle on the table had turned vinegary. Not to mention the bottle itself was greasy as can be. It was gross to touch.
The food here is fairly cheap, but you don’t even get what you pay for. Not worth another try.

My family and I have been enjoying Sunrise Diner for years now. We love the amazing breakfast food, classic feel, and engaging staff. It is not overpriced, and you always get your money’s worth. It is our favorite breakfast spot in town and truly a local gem.

So this small place takes cash or debit and the server was wonderful and offered to pay for the remaining when I ran out of cash. The world is a good place.. and has good people. The place has a very traditional look and feel . Biscuit and gravy with hash brown amazing

4/20/24- Sunrise is on the corner and you will find plenty of parking in the surrounding area. It’s by the Farmer’s Market area. (I’m new to town.)
Make sure you have cash, but if you don’t they have an ATM available. I did not know we needed cash but my wife was ready.
Before you walk in there’s a sign to be nice because they are short staffed. If you can’t be nice or you’re in a hurry don’t go. No need to be in a rush because it’s peaceful and they do their best to help customers.
The staff is great. They clean as soon as they can and the food is made to order. It’s all fresh.
We missed the early bird special they offer from 6am to 9am. The prices are reasonable. You won’t be upset if you order off the regular menu.
Rhea was on duty. She is business and firm so don’t go in and get your feelings hurt if she’s all business.
We placed our order. It took a few minutes to get cooked but it’s all fresh and hot. The pancakes are very filling and I’m a big man. The eggs were scrambled to order. My wife got a French toast and eggs with hash browns. Pictures posted.
A couple of college girls came in and were told to use cash and the ATM was available. Sadly the girls went in shock and left. I figure they are not used to carrying cash or know how to use the ATM the way they acted.
As for us, we enjoyed the meal. The service and the experience of eating at a small diner and local business. If you get a chance give them a try.
If you remember Alice, Mel and Flo you’re going to be fine
You won’t be disappointed!

Walking up to the Sunrise Diner, there is a notice on the door that the diner is short-staffed. Expecting it to be slow, service was actually fairly prompt. I ordered a cheese omelet and a serving of French toast. The food was decent though not particularly special, but my order was basic so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
However, one of the front of house staff member was… Very blatantly struggling to remain patient with both coworkers and customers. I quickly grew to regret sitting near the kitchen, as the employee’s attitude was uncomfortable to witness. They were short with coworkers and told a customer (seemed like a regular) not to talk to them. I don’t blame the employee for feeling stressed as it was likely a busy shift and being short-staffed would increase the stress. That said, I ended up trying to eat quickly so I could escape.
The other employees seemed more positive or were at least better at maintaining their customer service personas. Other customers further from the kitchen seemed to have had good experiences.

Great father and daughter team. Totally cool stuff to look at on the walls. Been traveling right after new year and its been a bit gloomy, had breakfast for lunch and the food, atmosphere and people gave me a smile I needed. Great place to visit!
