A Better Place is locally known as the “late” bar, generally speaking, the last joint to close any night of the week in and around Park Rapids. In addition, ABP provides harbor for the weary holiday humbug, as it’s rarely close whatever the date if you need to escape family members for a while. Bartenders are wickedly efficient, but relaxed and friendly. One block off Main Street.

Hours are inconsistent, otherwise it’s a solid place. A pinball machine and regular hours would make it perfect.
Clean restrooms, full bar, huge patio, touchtunes, pulltabs (box and vending machine), easy parking, darts, billiards, definitely had the big game on the huge TVs.

It’s clean and eclectic. Eleven beers on tap—3x IPAs. They’ve got Hooey, Castle Danger, & Surly. Good selection of hard liquor. Wait for it…Buffalo Trace. Pool tables, electronic darts, and an outdoor area. Reviews are bashing frozen pizza, seriously. Great service from my seat. And an American Flag!

It is a fun local bar. if you happen to arrive on the right evening at the right time, it can be very fun. The atmosphere is as close to a club as I’ve found in this area (DJ, good variety of music, dancing). If arriving on the wrong day or time the place can be close to empty & dreary. The patio is large & fenced in. Bean bags, volley ball.

Awesome bar! Free pool and jukebox on Tuesdays. Rachel is the best bartender, seriously, she’s beautiful and tentative. Wonderful selection of beers. Very nice décor inside. I highly suggest checking it out!

You can’t really beat A Better Place for a casual drink at the end of a long work day. The pool tables are only 50 cents a game and they have many choices of tap beer. You’ll find me and my friends here almost every Friday night and its not odd for us to play pool for up to six hours. The service is friendly but careful, they don’t put up with fighting or low lifes (not to mention minors) in this bar and, personally, I find that very refreshing. They encourage a good crowd and good, fun people. The place is always clean and its big enough that even when its packed you can always find a pool table or just a table to sit at. The local pool league plays here often because their pool tables are considered some of the best around (and they have 5 with a 6 being installed!). Not to mention, as of right now, their online Juke Box is free!

Found to be a ‘we’ll serve you when I’m ready’ attitude from the tender. This is not an alcohol fueled review. I do not drink, but an occasional can of pop is welcomed in different locations to keep up with activities in the area. I would consider this the typical small town “Dive bar”. Conversation may be difficult for those with wider interests than drugs, drunk, or Harley Davidson.
