Came here for a celebration with family as i’ve heard good things.
First of all, it was busy which was a good sign. The lovely gentleman managed to make space for us at the bar.
The service instantly was amazing. Our food was really good, the vibe, the aesthetic. Everything about this place was so good. Sahil elevated our experience to the next level, told us what to get, served us drinks and overall looked after us extremely well. There is not a single negative thing to say. Highly recommend & will be back.

Very friendly and attentive staff members, explained the menu options, refilled our water without us even asking, and just generally made us feel very welcome. The food arrived boiling hot, straight from the oven, and was incredibly aromatic and delicious. And when we thought we were full and couldn’t eat anything else, the waiter pulled out the dessert menu and we couldn’t resist Great experience. I highly recommend this place for any occasion, but it is a popular restaurant and a reservation would be essential on busy days.

The food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding, especially from our waiter Azraf, who made our experience even better.

This was our second visit in less than a week — we came back especially for the crispy spinach salad, which we loved so much the first time. All the dishes we tried were full of flavor and beautifully prepared.

A very thoughtful highlight was when we asked for a dessert and a small celebration for our young daughter’s birthday. They kindly refused to charge us for the it as a lovely birthday gesture, which we truly appreciated.

An amazing dining experience overall. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back again.

Amazing experience at Dishoom Permit Room Oxford. We went for a birthday lunch before a show. They even had a handwritten birthday card for my mum which was such a lovely touch! The dishes were absolutely delicious and generous portions even with the small plates. We had the Aloo Tikki Chat (I could honestly eat this everyday), the dishoom ruby murray, chicken biryani and the famous black lentil Dahl. Every dish was divine, the cocktails were to die for (they gave my mum hers on the house for her birthday!)and our waiter Ranjeet was really lovely and made the whole experience really special.

We had chicken biryani, garlic naan, and pick me up chicken. Since it was our first time trying Indian cuisine, we made sure to choose dishes with milder spices. The food was very delicious. The staff were very attentive. The atmosphere was warm and we really enjoyed our experience overall.

We visited The Permit Room for a quick pre-show meal and were thoroughly impressed. The standout feature of our visit was the service; the manager, Tony, was incredibly efficient and welcoming, setting a great tone for the evening.
Our server, Soumya, was fantastic—attentive and ensured our food arrived promptly. She went above and beyond to make our 10-year-old feel welcome, and he was absolutely over the moon to receive a complimentary juice!
The food was delicious; chai- our favourite excellent! We highly recommend the chicken and fish starters, followed by the chicken biryani. Even the kids’ meal was creative and passed the ‘fussy eater’ test with flying colors. It was the exceptional service that truly made our visit special. We’ll definitely be back!

They do not pull their (chilli) punches at the Permit Room! We started with the chilli cheesy garlic naan and enjoyed the slow build up of heat. We almost finished the whole thing before I captured a shot!

The rest of our orders arrived soon enough. The chole was again bringing the heat while the garlic naan acted as the delivery system. The biryani was full of cardamom, cloves, coriander and other spices, the basmati spice soaking all the flavors and the berry adding a nice contrast to the dish. The lamb chettinad was succulent and pepper rich with notes of star anise and cumin. Reminded me of my vindaloo without the sourness. The black daal was a soothing stop over as the rich buttery sauce thickened by the slow cooked daal gave us time to recover from all the heat. The only disappointment I had was the overly sweet Chicken Ruby. Other that that great service from all the servers and hosts.

Absolutely incredible food this morning. I have wanted to come here for a breakfast naan for so long and it did not disappoint. The vegan sausage was like nothing I’ve ever had, it was sooooo good! Already thinking about when I can visit again. The house chai was delicious and bonus that it was bottomless! The service from Dylan was great, very attentive and friendly. An all round faultless experience.
