We celebrated our 16-year wedding anniversary at Grill 225 last night. We’ve dined here before and had an amazing experience, but unfortunately, this visit didn’t quite live up to our previous one.
The restaurant itself is stunning, and the staff were all friendly and professional. The food, however, fell a bit short. My son and I both ordered the aged 8 oz filet mignon. They were cooked perfectly but surprisingly bland — we both had to add salt and pepper at the table, which was disappointing for a $60 steak.
My wife ordered the tuna tower with avocado and lump crab meat, and it was outstanding. My other son had the scallops, which were good but not particularly memorable.
Our appetizers, raw oysters and escargot, were both delicious and beautifully presented.
Grill 225 is certainly not inexpensive, and while the atmosphere and service were great, the overall dining experience just didn’t meet the high expectations set by our last visit. We probably won’t be back in the near future.

We only had a cocktail – one of the Nitrotinis – chocolate. Although a little gimmicky- it was fun and entertaining. Unfortunately the bartender gentleman seemed overworked and probably needed break. I ordered a Gin and Tonic and the tonic was soda water out of the hand held dispenser. I will go with – “he didn’t realize but said he could not change it over (for some reason)”. The place is a beautiful old building (guessing a bank) and a fun place to dine (although we did not eat).
Sadly for a place of this type and expected quality level, the experience was a little disappointing, but perhaps it was an off night.

This was our first time and it was amazing. Our server Ben should definitely be recognized. He was very sweet and helpful. I was there with three teenagers and they loved it. He was great. The front of the house was great. The only thing I missed was the steak board and a tomahawk. My daughter is a steak fanatic, and those were two things she was looking for. Overall, the service the food amazing we will be back

This wasn’t just a place to eat, it was a total experience. The cocktails were amazing and Clark was one of the best parts of the experience. We stayed in the hotel above the restaurant. We decided not to eat in the restaurant itself but at the bar instead. The way the food came out and was delicious from the first bite to the last sip of Port was exceptional. I never finish my steak at any restaurant but I ate every single bite at 225. Clark paired our drinks to go along with each course we ate. This isn’t just a restaurant to eat in, it is a beautiful location to have a truly remarkable dining experience. Trust me, there is a difference. Thanks again to Clark and Grill 225 for the unforgettable anniversary dining experience. 10 stars!!!

Great drink menu. I ordered a medium rare steak which was barely rare. For a prime steakhouse that surprised me. They were able to accommodate without a reservation and despite coming from the airport and being on the casual side, which we appreciated.

This restaurant is one of Charleston’s top tier and has been so for many years. It rivals with Oak Steakhouse for the city’s best steaks. It’s high end from decor to service to dishes and of course to prices. It’s an expensive restaurant and it’s hard to escape for less than $100 pp if you have an appetizer and glass of wine with your steak and side. Sides are gigantic and can be split amongst the table. The steaks are really very good indeed and are all prime cuts. Service is excellent and the noise level, even with a full dining room, is low enough for normal conversation. It has a convenient location in the city’s market area and parking is available nearby. Reservations are a must and they will din your credit credit if you are a no show. Wine list is extensive and there are a fair number available by the glass. Not much for vegetarians and definitely not a vegan friendly restaurant. We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Favorites are the escargot appetizer and the filet. We give it five stars or 4.5 clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale

The food and atmosphere were amazing. Our server was very knowledgeable with our wine selection and food choices.
Did I mention the food was amazing?!? Appetizers, entrees and dessert. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasurable experience.
You must see my images with names of the dishes so YOU can order!

We went for a set menu for valentines day spending 400$+ for 2 adults. The service was as expected, attentive. The adult beverages were amazing, and most of the food was perfect. Our issue arose when my husband’s ribeye came out as a NY Strip. When we asked for our server, Jerold the manager came out and tried to tell us what he had on his plate was a ribeye, the end cut of the ribeye. As we can appreciate any cut of steak, I absolutely do not appreciate being lied to about what obviously is on our plate. Instead of arguing with him, I explained we will just make a google review. We will not return as we definitely did not even receive what we actually ordered and was lied to like we never had a strip or ribeye in our lives.
