I’ve ate here countless times over the years, so I finally decided to review it honestly. To me, it’s kind of just an extra option to the limited restaurants in Hindman. If you’re looking for a great BBQ restaurant, this unfortunately isn’t it. I’ve tried a little bit of everything, and most things just seem kind of just lacking. The one thing I really enjoy is the Catfish Tacos, so it’s the only thing I really order anymore. Their desserts have usually been solid too. The staff has always been fantastic, and overall it’s nice to at least have an option other than fast food in our community, so I can’t bring myself to rate it any lower.

If you’re looking for mouthwatering, soul-satisfying BBQ that hits every craving you didn’t even know you had, this is the place. The ribs? Absolutely unreal. They didn’t just fall off the bone they floated off like they were begging to be devoured. Smoky, tender, and glazed with the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, they were hands down the best ribs I’ve ever had.
Now let’s talk about those loaded fries. Addictive doesn’t even begin to cover it. Piled high with melty cheese and smoky pulled pork, these fries could be a meal by themselves. I found myself going back for “just one more bite” about a dozen times.
And the service? Flawless. The wait staff weren’t just kind they made you feel like family. Genuinely warm, lightning-fast, and full of recommendations that actually hit the mark. You could tell they take real pride in what they serve and who they serve it to.
If you’re within 100 miles, make the trip. If you’re farther—get in the car anyway

Dining area is nice. Service is slow. Ordered an appetizer and 4 entrees between our party. No one finished their food. This place has a great deal of potential but you can’t be serving old product.

I ordered the sampler platter. The serving sizes were very small for the price paid. I was only able to eat the pulled pork, smoked sausage, and cornbread. The brisket and chicken was not edible, It was dried out like the consistency of shredded jerky. I ordered the baked sweet potato for my one side it was undercooked and hard. I was very disappointed in my meal. I informed my waitress that my food was dry and I couldn’t eat it. She apologized but never offered to get me anything else or offer any discount. When checking out I again mentioned that part of my food was not edible and asked for partial discount. The waitress said she would ask. She left and came back said that they could not give a discount. Very disappointed and will not be back. Some of the worst BBQ ever!

It’s a very clean place, even the restrooms are cleaner than most fast food kitchens imo. Service time was about average. It wasn’t busy when we went. The cornbread and boneless wings were awesome!

Me and my fiancé are on a vacation. And we really wanted some good food not fast food. And he found this place let me just say omg the food was amazing and the waiter was the nicest I’ve ever had. Love it here 100% recommending

Normally I absolutely LOVE Pig In a Poke. Today, however, I am super disappointed.
I called in a pick up order for a blooming onion, and two sandwich meals. I specifically asked for barbecue sauces. When my partner went to pick it up, he had to ask again for the BBQ sauce.
When I opened the blooming onion, it was dark, almost burned, and you needed to dab the oil off of it. The fries I ordered were also super greasy. Both are inedible because of the oil.
I would return it for them to see if I wasn’t 30 minutes away.

The deep fried pickles were not fried in nothing deep. The pulled pork tacos come with about a teaspoon of pork and a half a cup of lettuce do not go to this pig in a poke location.

Oohhhh…… nononono! Upcharge for every little thing. Pulled chicken had 2 small pieces of “real” chicken, tacos had maybe a tablespoon of filling in them @ 3.50 each! Burgers burnt, super greasy blooming onion. Not to mention the sticky table. That place is of one and done!!!

I’ve eaten at the one in Pikeville and prestonsburg and both those were amazing. This one wasn’t on par with those. The service was great and their presentations were good but we had a long wait time to get our entrees, longer than usual. The fries were hard and the brisket was dry. They probably just had an off day but it cost them a not so good review.
