Incredible food, friendly service. Went with a group for a birthday (my first time ever going to a place where they cook in front of you like this). The wait staff did an excellent job of wishing my 16 yo a happy birthday! Watching the chef cook our food was a great experience. They bring everyone at the table to life. I havent laughed so hard in a long time. Highly recommend going here! We did make reservations considering the special occasion and 8+ people, but I only made them a few hours ahead of time.

Mushroom soup, gyzoya, sushi.
All fresh and delish. The sushi had peanuts and avocado, interesting combo I had never seen and it was really good.
My server was attentive and kind. Gave suggestions and answered questions. Prompt.
Interior clean and cool looking. Absolutely loved the design on the leather booth seats.
Not overly huge- maybe seating for 60?

I have been here several times and have always been addressed and seated quickly. Drinks and appetizers arrived promptly. Our server Vicky, was very personable and attentive. She proactively brought the food for our children out before, the entrees for me and my wife. As our entree (the love boat) can take a little longer to prepare. Which was greatly appreciated. The udon noodles were well flavored and the texture was perfect. The love boat (sushi and sashimi) showcased an excellent selection of fish for a western palate, as well as the inclusion of a choice few more adventurous options. The sashimi was well cut, not absolutely perfect, but well sliced. The combination of good quality food at a reasonable price, combined with unreasonably good service lead to create a memorable and highly satisfying experience.

Went for dinner on a weeknight. We didn’t need a res. We were seated quickly. The server was friendly. The menu has a lit of choices with pictures. We ordered crab rangoon, several rolls, and chicken/scallop fried rice. The crab rangoon were ok. The filling was average and scant. The rolls were delicious, but all tasted the same. The fried rice was great. The scallops were surprisingly well-prepared. The chicken was bland and a little dry. The special sauce they offer helped with the chicken. I would return to try other stuff.

We got the Tokyo Supreme (chicken, filet mignon, shrimp, scallops, lobster, vegetables, fried rice, noodles, soup, & salad) for 2 and it was a lot of food for $58. I thought the filet mignon was cooked perfectly and it was the best part of the combo. The rest of the items were seasoned very lightly, I would’ve liked a little bit more flavor.

Very lively and delicious! My family and I came to Tokyo Steak House on August 27th, 2022 around 6:45 pm. The waitstaff were very attentive and kept your drinks full. We ate the Hibachi where your food is cooked right in front of your eyes.
I would say that it’s a bit pricey; we had the dinner for two and our children split a kids meal as they are both quite little. I did feel that most of the food was delicious, but the veggies were a bit bland…just add some soy sauce. Problem solved.
The restaurant and the grounds were clean and well kept. I did not use the restroom and cannot attest to their cleanliness.
I’m not going to give away all of their secrets, but the chefs are funny and do a nice job entertaining your group. Definitely come during a birthday celebration.
Rating: value of the food vs. what you pay is an 8 out of 10. Flavor of the food is a 9 out of 10. Overall cleanliness is a 10 out of 10. The quantity of food was HUGE with a 10 out of 10. That’s a total of 37 out of 40 = 37/40 = .92 = 92% = an A.

Tokyo Steakhouse is always a treat for date night when I’m in Ankeny Iowa with my fiancé. The food is always top quality and the service is always prompt and friendly. A great selection of foods, from hibachi grill to beautifully made sushi and rolls. A fine selection of cocktails and drinks that go really well with the fine food. The price is a little higher than some restaurants, but you notice where that little extra goes with the quality of the food prepared. Myself and my fiance always make this a regular date location, and we’ll definitely keep coming back time and time again in the future.
Definitely give the Tempura fried cheesecake a try, you will not regret it 😉

I just left there.. if I could give a zero star review I 100% would. The rice wasn’t fresh, it was clumpy and stuck together, it had zero flavor. The shrimp were well overcooked and hard to bite/cut through. The chicken was also flavorless and had a rubber like texture. When I told the owner he refused to take the food back and refused to take it off or give a discount. Since I paid full price I took the food with me and threw it away. The owner and the waiter we had were both very disrespectful, the owner said “no it’s your food you have to take it”. Kept repeating disrespectful remarks and one seemed very colorist. I wouldn’t feed this to an animal honestly. I should’ve known when the place was empty not to give it a try. Very terrible first experience.
