Movoc Hot Pot was a whole experience I built a custom seafood pot loaded with fresh shrimp, mussels, fish, and veggies in a rich, flavorful broth. Everything tasted fresh and high quality. Fun, interactive dining that’s perfect for date night or pulling up with the crew. Definitely going back.

Love love LOVE movoc. Malatang is not something you see a lot of restaurants for in the Midwest and for it to be here in STL and be delicious is already amazing. The selection of ingredients is great, taste is also great, and the staff are very kind. The only issues are cross contamination of ingredients due to lack of tongs and then the limited space, but that at least is not really something that can be helped as the restaurant itself is pretty small compared to a stand alone building. My favorite things to put in my bowl are the squid, moneybag tofu, and lotus root. There’s a smaller section in the back to make sauce, and the chili oil and pickled cabbage are incredible! If you’re not sure how great you’ll be with spice, getting the mushroom or tomato base and then adding chili oil will probably be your best bet! 10/10!

This was our first time here and wow was it awesome. It is pretty easy to go overboard though. We did three bowls and it was right at $90. Totally worth it, and you can take away what you don’t finish. The plain chicken broth was great for my son, and my wife and I did the hot and sour broth. Both tasted great, I can’t wait to try there others.
Everything was well labeled very well, but it was a little hard to make my bowl as the worker kept restocking as I was trying to get ingredients. Maybe wait a minute or fill behind people and not in front of them in the futire? I ended up just waiting on him to finish, which was a little awkward since I was the only person in line.

I absolutely love this place. You go in, get a bowl, add whatever you want into the bowl and they will weigh it and you’ll pay for it. They will give you a number and you can help yourself to complementary rice and water. It comes out fast. The clean up after people are done was fast as well. I got the number 1 medium spice base. The only thing I didn’t like is that it had TOO MANY PEPPERCORNS in it. I’ll definitely go back and try the other bases.

Movoc on the Delmar Loop is where I officially leveled up as a foodie. This place is bright welcoming and very red! It’s also genius! You build your hot pot by choosing your proteins, noodles, veggies, and broth. They have 2 broths that are vegetarian and I can’t contain myself over that. You pay by pound of food. You then hand it off so they can cook it for you. They bring it out boiling and it stays simmering while you enjoy. Lobster balls, crab legs, tilapia, shrimp, it’s basically a pescatarian hot pot place in my eyes. I walked in hungry and walked out with a new foodie badge unlocked. Absolutely #StLouisPescatarianApproved Loved it!

The food was amazing! You fill a bowl with what you want and they’ll cook it. Picking out a broth was fun as well. It was a new and fun experience for me. The only thing to look out for is that every broth that has a spice level is way spicier than you think. For example I got broth 3. It was the least spicy of the spice broths (they have non-spicy broths as well) but it was still pretty spicy. At the very least your mouth will burn. All in all I’d give this place a 10/10 rating! I’ll definitely have to come back again.

AMAZING hot pot. You pay by weight, so you only pay for what you can eat. Don’t eat much? No problem. Want to eat a lot? No problem either!
They have all kinds of seafood… crab legs, shrimp, fish, even abalone…tofu, veggies, beef, chicken…. just awesome!
If you only like beef, then just get beef. Only chicken or only vegetables? Sure, whatever you want. Pick the flavor of your broth, and GO!
It’s $15.99/lbs. White rice is free if you dine in. There is a charge if you want to get rice to go.

I love the self serve hot pot model. It allows customer to select their own ingredients, choose a broth, and pay by weight. It’s 15.99 per lb at Movoc, minimum weight 0.9lb. They offer five hotpot soup base choices and other specials like dry mix, stir fry, mala town. You can get free rice if dine in. At this visit, I got the mushroom (non spicy) and sour and spicy (level 1 spicy). I loved both of the broth flavors. However, my hotpot got cold pretty quick. I saw they do have red bowls with tea light candles inside working like a food warmer, but I wasn’t provided one so…..I had no idea how long it can keep the food stay hot.
I noticed staffs refilled ingredients constantly. However, there wasn’t any labels in front of the ingredients … so I felt like it was a guessing game/IYKYK when picking ingredients. Seatings will be an issue during peak hours since it’s first come first service. You won’t get the seat until after you pay. The restaurant was clean. Service was friendly.

Good foodstuffs with a lot abalone, clams, chicken, pork n vegetables. The place was clean, but staffs not attending, they forgot a lot of things, not focused on customers. However it’s a good place for hot pot.

Went in for the second time tonight and we were greeted by this angry young woman with glasses that was telling us that it was too late for us to eat with almost an hour before closing andwe had to get our food to go. When I told her this was ridiculous and that we had plenty of time to eat. A nice woman came out and told her that she was wrong and that we could in fact eat. We went through the process of getting our food and it was $75 for two bowls of soup, which is shocking we ate our food. It was good and another couple that was dining there. The gentleman went up to get another bowl of rice at the end of his meal to put in his soup to go and that same angry young woman was so rude to him told him he could not have more rice in his $30 bowl of soup and chased him back to his table and took the rice away where she went back and dumped it back into the large rice pot and then grabbed napkins and took it out to the back and threw it away. I’ve never seen behavior like this in a restaurant. I was shocked at how nasty and mean this girl was and there is no way she should be working in an environment like this. What a horrible young woman and how rude she was to deny this man a bowl of rice to put in his $30 bowl of soup. This was my friend’s first hot pot experience and she was also horrified. I don’t think I will be patronizing this establishment again.
Oh, and the music was loud and horrible.
