First time here and it was SO good. Tried two different matchas and both were 10/10. I got the hapa one and the classic. Service was friendly and attentive! They also sold the matcha so I bought a few to bring to my friends! Highly recommend

Visiting Honolulu for the first time and stopped by Daily Whisk Matcha around 10 AM on Saturday after seeing multiple recommendations online. I came specifically to buy matcha powder to take home and wanted to taste it first, which is pretty standard at true matcha shops.

Unfortunately, this was not that kind of place.

There was a long line, very limited parking, and the shop itself is a very small stall. That alone wouldn’t be a dealbreaker — but the real issue was that this is not a true matcha shop.

When I asked to try plain matcha (no milk, no sweetener) before buying, the staff seemed genuinely confused. I had to repeat myself several times. They explained that they only really serve matcha lattes or sweetened drinks (matcha lemonade, syrups, monk fruit, etc.). Eventually, they offered to make something by mixing matcha with hot water and lemon-honey syrup — not traditional matcha preparation at all.

The drink came out extremely hot (almost black-tea hot), served with a plastic lid, and was heavily watered down. The matcha flavor was barely noticeable, overwhelmed by the added syrup, and did not resemble real ceremonial or straight matcha in any way. I ended up throwing most of it out.

They also only carry one type of matcha, and everything they serve appears to be designed for milk or sweetened drinks — not for people who actually drink matcha straight or want to evaluate quality before buying.

Because of this experience, I didn’t purchase any matcha to take home.

Bottom line:
If you want sweet matcha lattes, this place may be fine.
If you’re looking for a serious matcha shop, want to taste plain matcha, or want to buy quality powder with confidence — this is not it.

Their Iced Hapa Matcha Latte was delicious! I ordered mine with soy milk, and could clearly taste the strong notes of both the matcha and hojicha. The only downsides of Daily Whisk is that parking is limited and there aren’t many seats/tables to sit at and enjoy your drink.

The Lilikoi Matcha Soda was very good. A nice mix between sweet/fruity and creamy/matcha flavors with just a little bit of carbonation is a great hot weather refreshment. The extremely fast service, minimal seating, and various clothing shops onsite give the feeling of a to-go store, though they serve food as well. Seems like they could have a lot more customers sitting and enjoying onsite if there were more seating available. Didn’t get the coffee-shop/ cafe vibe. Beware parking seems to be an issue with restriction signs posted.

Daily Whisk = matcha heaven ☁️ I LOVE this place. Free parking right in front (though limited), otherwise you’ll need to pay to park at the lot across the street. Their matcha is chefs kiss – high quality, perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and they keep it authentic with the bamboo whisk. Their hojicha is also amazing and one of my favs to get on island! Lots of milk options (oat, almond, soy, etc.), some seating but no wifi. Definitely one of my favorite matcha spots in Honolulu for a clean, true-to-flavor cup!

I highly recommend Daily Whisk Matcha in Honolulu for anyone who loves matcha or is looking for a unique twist on traditional flavors. The quality of their drinks is exceptional, and if they had matcha available for purchase, I would’ve definitely stocked up before leaving. It’s a must-visit spot if you’re in the area!

In depth review:

For my drink, I ordered the Strawberry Matcha. The combination of sweet, fresh strawberry flavor paired with the earthy, smooth matcha was simply outstanding. The strawberry didn’t overpower the matcha, but rather complemented it beautifully, making for a refreshing and balanced beverage. The matcha itself was rich and vibrant, offering a clean, green taste that wasn’t too bitter—just the right balance of sweetness and umami. The texture was velvety, and the drink was perfectly cold, making it an ideal refreshment.

My best friend opted for the Chocolate Strawberry Hojicha, and she couldn’t stop raving about it either. The hojicha’s toasted, smoky flavor paired wonderfully with the rich chocolate and the light strawberry notes. The drink struck a perfect balance between sweetness and depth, and the smoky undertones of the hojicha were unique and comforting. It was a perfect contrast to my fruity, sweet matcha.

The service at Daily Whisk was super friendly, and the vibe of the café was cozy and welcoming—ideal for a quick stop or a relaxing moment to enjoy your drink. I truly wish they had matcha bags available for sale when i visited . I was leaving Hawaii the next day and had hoped to take some high-quality matcha home, but unfortunately, they were out of stock, and the staff mentioned they weren’t sure when they’d be getting their next shipment.

decent drinks, tastes exactly like what I make at home with my matcha and hojicha powders. you have to pay extra for any sweeteners so the drink ends up being about $9/drink. decent drink, nothing crazy but it does get crowded
