Random spot but we decided to try as we wanted some Asian fusion on the Westside of the city. We first walked in to check out all 3 levels including the rooftop and liked the vibe, so decided to grab a table on the second floor to eat a proper meal. Note the rooftop bar only serves small plates and drinks.

The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the Uday fried rice and beef cheek which was super tasty. My wife was sick and couldn’t taste, so wanted something spicy and still enjoyed the food.

Also note we were asked to give a review for a complimentary entree, but wasn’t forced to give 5 stars or anything. I reckon definitely give this place a shot and you’ll enjoy.

Only change I reckon it shouldn’t be as bright inside so it’s more vibey, but that’s my personal take.

Uday Thai Restaurant is an absolute standout in Spotswood. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, genuine hospitality that instantly sets the tone for a great night. The service here is consistently fantastic friendly, attentive, and delivered with the kind of care that makes you feel like a valued guest rather than just another table.

And the food… honestly, it’s exceptional. Every single dish we tried was marvellous full of flavour, beautifully presented, and cooked with real skill. You can taste the pride and authenticity in every bite. People often say you can’t get truly authentic Thai food in Australia like you do in Thailand, but Uday Thai proves that wrong in the best possible way. The flavours are bold, vibrant, and incredibly true to what you’d expect from a great Thai kitchen.

From rich, aromatic curries to crispy pork belly, fresh spring rolls, perfectly fried calamari, and the most beautifully plated mango sticky rice everything was faultless. It’s rare to find a restaurant where every dish hits the mark, but this place delivers.

If you’re looking for a restaurant that offers genuine Thai flavours, generous portions, beautiful presentation, and service that makes you feel welcome, Uday Thai is absolutely worth the visit.

You’ll walk out impressed, satisfied, and already planning your next meal here. Highly recommended.

An absolute please to give this elegant venue top marks. All the stars are well deserved, from the hostess meeting me at the door to show us our table, the lovely and very efficient and patient waitress to all the dishes enjoyed tremendously by our party. We ordered the barramundi, duck fried rice, pad Thai, masaman beef, salmon and calamari. All delish!! Five star meals without the five star price. Highly recommend Uday for all occasions. I will definitely be back.

Came across Uday by surprise on Google Map and it did not disappoint! The main star was the pad ped beef cheek which gives a real soft texture almost like sous vide steak but with a kick of the red curry and lime leaf 🙂 Pork skewer (moo ping) was exactly what we enjoyed back in Bangkok! We also love the oyster omelette, a Thai-Chinese fusion dish which was hard to find elsewhere. Uday is now one of our favourite go-to Thai fusion restaurants on Western suburbs. Thanks for having us!

Visited this restaurant for the first recently. The building is lovely, three levels to choose from (rooftop only open during good weather).
Recently renovated, the food was amazing. Hearty, flavourful, aesthetic and good portion size.
Minus one star because it was freezing cold and way too bright. The interior design was well done and I think they could do with turning down/off some of the lights.

Food was so good. Every dishes that we had tonight are recommended. We love their Thai fusion dessert too. The atmosphere is good for catching up with friends or family. We had a good afternoon and night there. We enjoyed the rooftop vibe before came down for dinner. We will visit again definitely

I didn’t realise this was Thai cuisine until I rocked up. I had the crisp barramundi and wagyu puffs, both of which were great and nicely presented. The Phuket pinacoloda was delicious, and the best part was the service. The waitress was so lovely, cheerful and nice, will visit again.

Food was delicious, especially that wagyu puff Everything came out in a timely manner, the service was great, and I loved the quiet atmosphere (no loud music). It was nice to actually have a proper conversation with my husband. Considering they’ve only been open for less than a year, they’re doing amazing! Can’t wait to try there odette breakfast menu next time!

Walked in and all the lady serving us was so welcoming and sweet! We got invited to see their upstairs dining area which looks so aesthetically pleasing!! All staff were super friendly and even recommended us dishes according to our tastes. We first started with two curries and both were amazing. The beef cheek melted in our mouths and the salmon also dissipated while the flavour just punched through our taste buds I wish the curry would’ve been a bit more spicy but other than that, no complaints. The best dish for us was definitely the Crispy Belly Kiss. It was so crunchy but the meat was so soft at the same time. The sauces balanced everything together. Overall, a 11/10 experience with both customer service and food!

I will preface this review by recognising that Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest on the calendar. That’s fine! I’m generally a patient guy who likes to go with the flow as it is, and extended this grace to the staff with the popularity in mind; which is why it was a shame that last night’s experience was as bad as it was.

We arrived for our 6.30pm booking and were sat down relatively promptly – lovely! Me and my partner peruse the menu and talk for a little bit before realising 20 minutes has passed and nobody has seen to us. I notice that a couple placed next to us, who were seated before we arrived, had also received no service in this time. No matter; it’s busy! I’m sure a server won’t be far away.

Ten minutes passes and our neighbours flag down a server to take their order, who then walks right past us. A separate server then arrives a couple minutes later to take our order; 30 minutes after seating.

Fast forward 25 minutes and the lemon lime & bitters and virgin pina coladas we’ve ordered haven’t arrived. I continue to remain patient despite another, different one of our neighbours offering condolences to us about the lack of service they’ve witnessed.

The patience wears thin once I realise that a handful of tables near us have received drinks (and food in some cases) despite being seated after us. What’s the order of operations here?

I still maintain a flicker of hope for a good night despite the wait, because it’s our first night out at this local place with rave reviews! It’s not until the young staffer who took our order earlier tentatively approaches us and says ‘sorry, what did you guys order?’ that the hope is gone and we decide that, after waiting an hour with zero drinks or food, we’ll actually move on.

The young server didn’t know how to handle the situation and I don’t begrudge her for it. It was clear from early on that there were not enough staff to cater to how busy the evening was and there appeared to be a lack of order to the service system. The staff present have been let down by the powers-that-be, which then has transferred onto us – as well as our neighbours (who, at point of our departure, had only received two appetisers and a can of coke in over an hour. I hope their night got better).

This was legitimately the worst restaurant experience I’ve had and it led to the only instance of me leaving a restaurant mid-booking. As a proud Westie, I was hyped to get along to an already beloved restaurant in our backyard, though now leave my first experience with Uday knowing I won’t return. Bummer.
