Yumyai (ยำใหญ่) isn’t just a dish — it’s an idea.
In Thai, “Yum” means a mix of bold, vibrant flavors.
In English, it sounds like “yummy”, a word that means joy in every bite.
And “Yai” means big — not just in size, but in heart.
So Yumyai means more than just food.
It’s about big flavors, big love, and a big celebration of Thai home cooking.
We serve what we eat — simple, real, and unforgettable
That’s the meaning of Yumyai.
And that’s what’s on your plate. ️

Great authentic Thai flavors! I tried both the Tom Kha and Tom Yum noodle soups, the broth was bold and flavorful. Finished off with Mango Sticky Rice, which was a steal at only $5. Highly recommended for delicious food at a great price!

This is a great small family run restaurant that I highly recommend. Shared spring rolls (large, flavorful not greasy); drunken noodle prawns medium spice (soooo good) and Kao Pad Thai fried rice (lots of chicken). Attentive service with a low key atmosphere. Great portions = left overs. 2 thumbs up

Had a great experience here. The food was delicious and nicely presented, and the staff were very polite and welcoming. The atmosphere is comfortable and it’s conveniently located on Main Street. I would definitely come back again

Prepare to be transported to Thailand! The owners are incredibly kind are welcoming, and bring the underrepresented Central Thai flavors to Vancouver. Pad Thai, Green Curry, Larb moo, pineapple fried rice, and roti were all prepared with generous portions of fresh ingredients and full flavored spices. Go for the fresh coconut to cool down. Plenty of free parking off of main street. Highly recommended.

Amazing experience!✨
As a vegetarian, there was a great variety of options, which is rare for many Thai places. The spice level was exactly as requested, and the flavours were spot on ️ . It’s the kind of cozy, family-style restaurant where guests are actually looked after.
Highly recommend this place for anyone!

Overall great spot. Had the Pad siuew and mango sticky rice – both were above average. Not lacking flavour, fresh, taste & authenticity. The server was kind and attentive. Overall a very pleasant experience.

Visited Yumyai Thai Food back in September 2025. This is in the former Bob Likes Thai Food location.
Had the Red Curry Chicken ($21) – it doesn’t include rice so we got a bowl of Jasmine rice for $6. Found the curry to be a bit spicy (in a good way) and went well with rice.
Also got a Thai Iced Tea ($6), tender Chicken Satay ($15), and Drunken Noodle Prawns ($22 ) – nicely smooth noodles.

3.5 ⭐️Massaman curry was on the thinner and watery side to the point where it made the rice soggy. It was also very sweet and there wasn’t enough heat. On top of that some of the potatoes were pretty undercooked. No complaints for coconut rice. Roti was good but i wish there was a bit more tbh. Also sad to see such a huge, non compostable plastic container for the roti. I understand needing it for the curry but a paper takeout box is more than sufficient for the rice and roti. Actually you could even get away with using paper sleeve for the roti to cut down on cost and waste plus it’ll soak up some of the oil because it’s deep fried. I’ll give this place one more try to see if it was just an off day for the curry.

Great first expierience here and really enjoyed the Bobs Fish and Chips, Red Curry and Tom Ka Gai. The Fish and Chips were unique with a great flavour. Tom Ka Gai was good but could have used more flavour/punch. I felt like the ingredients could have been more substantial and less broth. Red curry was terrific, the pineapple and lychee (maybe i do like lychee after all) were a great sympony of flavours. Wished this had just a little more heat to balance out the sweetness but it was delicious overall ✨️
