This was my first time visiting. When I walked in, no one greeted me and the staff were on their phones. I was seated and decided to give it a chance. The server took the time to explain everything on the menu, which I really appreciated.

Unfortunately, the service was slow, and I didn’t feel the chicken or rice were very fresh. On the positive side, the fish was delicious, as was the fasah, and the bread was absolutely scrumptious.

Throughout the meal, I had to keep waving someone down whenever I needed something, as the staff were often on their phones. When we paid, we were not given a receipt, which made me uncomfortable. I would return just for the bread and fasah, but overall I think the restaurant really needs to work on improving their service

The food was amazing and the hosts was also amazing she was very kind and quick with her service. We ordered the sea bass fish (which tasted really good) and fahsa (tasted really good also). We were served the lamb broth with a squeeze of lemon, it was so warming for a cold Chicago day. All in all really great place with great food and service, highly recommend.

A friend and I came across Tanour after a good hike at the close by Swallow Cliff Woods. It offers Yemeni food and it was my first time experiencing it. The host took good care of us including suggesting a few choices for me, a vegetarian. It’s otherwise a meat eaters paradise, with a lot of lamb. Their bread is simply awesome too.

Stopped here for dinner with my family. Our first time at a Yemen restaurant and we all enjoyed it. We had no idea what to order and your welcoming waitress made great suggestions. Everything was cooked to perfection.
**Suggestions to business: 1. water should be complimentary with option to purchase bottled water. 2. When reprinting menus please add a DINNER menu and include pictures of your dishes or at least a description of what the dish includes.
We look forward to visiting again.

First time trying TANOUR today, and wow, what an amazing experience! A friend invited me, and I’m so glad they did. The Fahsa and Zourbiyan were absolutely delicious—so full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The bread was fresh, soft, and super tasty, which made the meal even better. The staff was friendly, and the vibe of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. Definitely coming back soon! Highly recommend!

We decided to give this restaurant another try after our earlier experience under previous management didn’t meet expectations. This time, we were pleasantly surprised. We visited with a family of seven, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. A special mention goes to the lady who served us (Yusra maybe – I don’t remember her name), but she was extremely cooperative and made sure we had the best dining experience. The food was delicious, the taste was excellent, and the portion sizes were very generous. We will definitely be returning and bringing more guests with us.

I came here yesterday and asked for maasoub معصوب to go, The girl said it’s going to take 10 minutes and then after 20 minutes of waiting she didn’t say sorry or anything, half of it is that thick white bread , and the rest is just that canned cream not fresh cream and I think they didn’t use butter سمنه, just a little bit of regular oil and maybe it’s not even olive oil, and a little bit of honey that’s it.

By far this restaurant serves the best authentic Yemeni food in illinois. Today is my second time visiting this restaurant. Very delicious, fast service, and most importantly tasty Yemeni bread.

Tanour Restaurant on Chicago’s South Side was a disappointing experience. The Zurbian and Lamb Mandi were overpriced, with small portions and poor quality — the food tasted like leftovers. We were not served the traditional soup at the start, and the lamb lacked both flavor and freshness. Overall, not worth the price or visit.
