Soo…. the place is presently operating as a casual Japanese restaurant. The main chef doing the artistic cuisine is out and about so his wife is running the place. Can I say the food is excellent in any case? It’s set as an ochazuke tea set — I got the swordfish mousseline (fantastic!). Service is quiet and respectful so a very zen dining experience.

We enjoyed a really special meal. Lovely relaxed and welcoming ambience and impeccable service. The degustation menu was a wonderful combination of tastes and flavours. We went all in for the 8 courses but it didn’t feel overwhelming or OTT – as our experience has been at some other restaurants. Highly recommended

We had the privilege of having our Valentine’s meal here and it was some of the best food I have ever eaten. I am a regular restaurant customer in Nelson, have been to all the top spots, numerous times. The effort and pre planning that went into our meal was 5 star. We had GF requirements which were all pre made for us and the finest detail was done to perfection on every part of our meal. We were so impressed. Delicious meal for a very good price as well. Hats off to the chef and staff for making our foody experience so memorable with delicious food. We noticed all the small details but we know there were so much more put into creating absolute masterpiece’s in every bite. Very very impressed.

What an incredible experience! The wine list was outstanding (approachable and not overwhelming) but thoughtfully curated much like the entire dining experience. We made reservations a few months in advance and were throughly looking forward to our meal but were BLOWN AWAY by the quality, care and innovation of our meal. Dollar for dollar this was the most exceptional meal we’ve ever had. If you have an opportunity to eat here please order the dégustation menu and prepare to throughly enjoy yourself.

Well worth it for a fine dining experience. Intimate environment, beautifully represented dished that tasted amazing as well. I can see the effort put into every dish. They are a work of art. I almost feel bad eating them!

A great great experience! My partner and I both had the degustation menu and we were very happy and impressed. Every dish was beautifully presented and has lots of flavor! Great wine matching too. Also tried two the non-alcoholic drinks, both super nice and fresh. Service was excellent. Love the atmosphere and the music play list. No matter you are locals or just come to Nelson for a holiday, this restaurant is definitely worth visiting. Hat off to the chef and the team, thank you guys!

World class food, presentation, service…Le Plonc has it all. The degustation dinner was a taste adventure and each plate was a visual feast beautifully presented and total artistry. Thank you so much for the birthday cake slice and the little madeleine to take home. A stand for my handbag was a pleasant bonus. The decor is simple, comfortable and the plush pale pink chairs I wanted to stroke and take home. Simple luxury.
