Nice Korean mom and pop spot. Soy garlic fried chicken and beef kimbap were both very delicious. The fry in the chicken was excellent and the soy garlic wasn’t too sweet, which very much prefer. The kimbab was very generous with the beef. Inside has a good amount of seating and very clean. Girl at the counter was very polite. Food came out in about 7-8 mins would highly recommend this place. A little pricey but, hey everything is expensive in Cali.

The Ultimate Korean Comfort Food in Ventura!

If you are looking for authentic, soul-warming Korean food, this is the spot. I’ve traveled all over the Pacific during my time in the Navy, and the flavors here are as legit as it gets.

The atmosphere is welcoming, and the food feels like a home-cooked meal. Whether you’re craving a rich, bubbling stew or perfectly seasoned Bulgogi, everything is fresh and hits the spot. It’s the perfect place to go when you want a meal that actually fills you up and makes you feel good.

Ventura has a lot of dining options, but Matna 1631 is easily at the top of my list for comfort food. Great service and even better flavors. I’ll definitely be back!

The food was excellent. Had the bibimbap and soy garlic fried chicken. The fried chicken was crisp and flavorful. The bibimbap came in the stone dish and delivered on the crisp rice and flavor.

The cook and young lady at the counter were excellent. I was disappointed in the service from the mother. She was on her phone or laptop the whole time. Felt she could have been more attentive, filling water, following up on the meal, or offering to box up the food. The message I got is that her YouTube videos were more important than providing excellent service to each customer. Step up your game and you will fill up that restaurant.

The original fried chicken is great, but the spicy ones are just a little too sweet and the spicy level is pretty mild

I just had the best noodle soup of my life! We came in at 7:15pm on the Saturday night, and needed to eat something real quick. The hostess recommended a number items. We chose the Beef Brisket noodle soup and Chicken Rice bowl. Both of are phenomenal! We totally should have taken some pictures before inhaling them down, no joke! Super reasonable price, and far exceeded expectations!

I’ve been meaning to try this place after hearing rave reviews and recommendations for months. I love Korean food and in my opinion the more great Korean restaurants in Ventura County, the better. I finally swung by with my bestie for a late lunch.

The service was excellent, and the folks working here were extremely friendly. We ordered almost immediately with little wait. The atmosphere of the place is bright, clean and welcoming.

You can get dolsot (hot stone/bowl) vegetable or beef bibimbap, and my bestie and I both ordered the beef variety with a side of kimchi.

Side note: You don’t get the hot bowl with takeout so although I’m sure it’s yummy anyway, it’s a real treat to dine in for the experience and ensuing deliciousness.

The seating area is comfortable if not cozy, with plenty of space and tables and chairs and a cushioned bench lining the far wall. It wasn’t overly crowded at 2:30 p.m. ish on a Wednesday.

Our food came out a short while later, sizzling hot, looking and smelling amazing.

I was a tad surprised to find that the beef itself was more of the ground form rather than the sliced beef I was accustomed to. The serving size of the beef was a tad small (for me personally) as well, however there was a great deal of fresh and tasty vegetables in the dish, and I’d say it was proportionate when measured per food item. The rice at the bottom of the bowl had an undeniably satisfying crunch and everything was topped with an egg that continued to cook in the sizzling bowl of beauty that was laid out before us.

The dish did not disappoint. It was AMAZING and everything I wanted it to be. It was served with a bottle of sweet-hot gochujang, which is a traditional Korean pepper sauce. The kimchi was fresh and flavorful, and had just the right amount of kick to it.

There was so much food in the bowl, neither of us could complete it. We were stuffed and so happy!

Overall this was an excellent experience, and we will happily return!

I love this small place! It packs such a big flavor! The Kimbob gives me memories. The spicy smoked brisket ramen is really really tasty! My wife and I have already been to Manta 1631 many times already! Can’t wait to go back.

January 5, 2025: Update! Made a visit to my favorite restaurant in Ventura. Got my usual spicy brisket Ramen with beef kimbob, steam rice, kimchi and sparling grape lemonade. Fantastic as usual. From customer service on down. See you soon!

Love the concept of introducing delicious Korean food to the uninitiated in an approachable way in a language they understand. Their walk-up style format coupled with the rapid made-to-order service makes for very efficient service. Add to that their extremely friendly and helpful staff and you end up with a great dining experience. We enjoyed the Kimbap, Kimchi Fried Rice with Beef, and Soy Garlic Korean Fried Chicken. Each was flavorful, well balanced and deftly prepared. Can’t wait to go back and try more from their menu.

Yum! So glad to find this place. Yummy fast and affordable. 15ish per plate but big portions.

Had the bimbibop which had yummy crunchy rice edges in a hot stone bowl with mung bean sprouts mushroom carrots and a scattering of ground beef. Family also had spicy noodle and udon noodle salad and took half home for another meal. Both had lots of veggies and sesame flavors. Ginger tea and yuzu tea were strong and sweet and would be perfect if you a cold. Or base for a hot toddy

Will be back!

Really nice staff. Decor is cute but basic
