I have been wanting to stop here for a while but it is usually closed when I go by. There is no indoor seating so you eat on a covered patio with a giant floor fan pushing air. The menu is pretty good and inexpensive. Service was prompt and friendly. Food came out relatively quick. They offer a sweet tomato base and a vinegar base sauce. I had the chicken thighs, pulled pork, mac & cheese, and collards. Food was relatively bland. Seemed there was either little or no seasoning at all. I may be wrong, but the collards did not taste fresh, Mac & cheese was dry as was the chicken thighs. I like my pork with no sauce and this was served with sauce. The pork was ok. I’m going to try it again simply because I can’t form an adequate opinion based on 1 visit. Anyone can have a bad day. I will update my review after I try it again.

We have passed this place numerous times on our way home to covington. Today we stopped in, I can say honestly the lady taking orders was very sweet and patient. She explained everything very nicely and was sure to tell us what was vinegar based. The man who brought our food out to us was very friendly and made sure to tell us to keep it level to avoid spills on the way home.
My husband and I both got platters he got the vinegar based sauce I got the sweet. They give you huge portions of everything. We tasted each others food and both were amazing.
Their Mac an cheese tasted homemade which I loved and the green beans were a treat. My husband got the baked beans and loved them said there was a little kick he couldn’t place the flavor though.
As someone from the north I’d definitely recommend this place to someone looking for good BBQ.

I guess because of covid-19 have a service window instead of letting people in the building which was okay. And they were very quick to take our order and we didn’t have to wait very long for our food either.
Cleanliness: 10/10
The outdoor seating area was spotless and there was trash cans available and the tables were clean.
Staff: 10/10
They were professional, courteous, and welcoming.
Atmosphere: 7/10
It’s an outdoor seating area and it’s really nice to sit and smell the wood burning in the smoker. Just be sure not to sit too close so you won’t choke on the smoke

I ordered the two wraps for $7.50 and also got a side of macaroni and cheese. At first I thought the wraps were kind of small but they were very very filling and some of the best pulled pork I’ve ever had.

This was our 2nd time in stopping there; they did not disappoint us one bit. Your taste buds will thank you!

We were visiting Clifton Forge in drove over to Iron Gate to try Rollers Barbecue, and it was amazing. Outdoor seating was perfect since our dog was traveling with us. The pork barbecue has a great flavor. Grannies potato salad is delicious. The coleslaw without mayonnaise is a vinegar base but slightly sweet so it really balanced it perfectly. Yummy!

Driving by, and boy were we glad we stopped!! Great barbecue, incredible pricing, and friendly small town service. It’s a hour and a half from home, but I’m sure we will be back. Food this good at these prices is worth a 3 hour drive!

Dustin beat me to it. Was up a couple weeks back in WV and we always go through Iron Gate. I had seen this place but had never been open when we came through or I had already gone by it before I saw it. My bro-in-law had gone back from his place and stopped in and sent me a pic of his bbq sandwich so I knew I had to stop. If coming from Clifton forge/Hway 64 it comes upon you quick. I actually missed it and turned around. They were following strict Covid protocols [which I appreciate] and you ordered from a window on left under the covered eating area. I ordered the BBQ sandwich. She asked if I wanted slaw and she asked what typed of sauce…. sweet or vinegar. I went sweet. She asked me if I wanted hot sauce and I said ‘of course’. The sandwich was huge. The sandwich was outstanding.All the chairs were up on tables due to said Covid protocols [which once again I appreciate] so I was eating on my hood. The owner popped out to check his enormous smoker and I inquired about the hot sauce. He said it was sriracha which I never would’ve guessed and I have multiple brands of that hot sauce in my fridge. I had never thought to put on my BBQ sandwich but I’m a convert now. Owner was very nice and I wish I had asked to get a couple pics of what he was preparing. Service was quick and I cant wait to try again. My travel partner got a coke. It was a 16 oz bottle. I did not ask for cup with ice so cant speak if that’s an option. They sell in bulk and at first glance their prices were quite fair.

Kenny the owner is a great guy.. He’s also one of the best BBQ masters of ribs.. Iron Gate is 120 miles from my home in North Carolina..
