Sure, some places here serve the food with staff dressed in kimonos, but nothing beats the quality of the meats and everything you get at this spot. The harami is by far the best I’ve ever had. The cravings are already kicking in, so go enjoy.
If you want the best Japanese BBQ (yakiniku) outside of Japan, this is it hands down. Honestly, this is the best Japanese BBQ around and it beats any Korean BBQ spot I’ve tried.
The meat selection is top-tier, the quality is amazing, and the service is legit 5-star every time. The atmosphere is on point, the food is incredible, and the sake menu is excellent you won’t be disappointed.
Huge thank you to Matsu for always providing amazing service, along with the entire staff. And thank you Sean for the great service.
Save room for dessert too the mascarpone is next level. You can’t miss with this place.
My wife and I travel a lot and eat at many restaurants around the world. We’ve had incredible food in many places — but this experience truly stood out as one of the best.
We came expecting maybe a 10/10 dinner… but honestly it turned out to be 100/10.
First of all, the service was absolutely outstanding. Our server Yui was incredible — attentive, kind, professional, and genuinely caring. She checked on us at the perfect moments and made sure everything was perfect without ever being intrusive. Restaurants are very lucky to have someone like her.
The concept of grilling the meat at the table is already fun, but what made the difference is how much the staff cares. They came to help cook the meat perfectly and guided us through the experience.
I’m a serious steak lover, and I can honestly say the meat here was unbelievable. It literally melted in the mouth. Easily some of the best meat I’ve had in a restaurant.
Everything was fantastic:
• the salad
• the garlic rice
• the soup
• and of course the premium meat
Every single dish was delicious and perfectly prepared.
The entire team works with incredible professionalism and hospitality. The atmosphere, the food quality, and the service all come together to create something truly special.
If you are on the Big Island and love great food and amazing service, you absolutely have to visit this place.
A special thank you again to Yui for making our evening so memorable. She truly elevated the whole experience.
We left extremely happy and satisfied and will 100% come back next time we are here.
Highly, highly recommended.
First of all we got dinner reservation but still waited for a pretty long time and got seated 30min later than our booked time I heard other people complaining about the wait even they got reservations so this is not uncommon. When we finally got seated the table wasn’t even clean and has leftover rice on it. I also saw a flying bug.
The top quality beef tongue is pretty good and tender (which is why I have 2 stars instead of one). This is the only thing I like about this place. I don’t like the cold noodles.. some weird bad version of the Chinese northeastern cold noodles. The spicy soup was okay but somehow a bit sweet so weird. Also did I mention there’s no service at all? I had to use the beef fat to do the oiling of the grill pan myself…
It’s $100+ pp so… please do yourself a favor and avoid this place.
We ordered the combination of American (washu) and Japanese (miyazaki) wagyu beef. It included 3 pairs of each for us to try, and we chose to have some overlap in cuts, so we were able to directly compare the difference. I recommend the rib rolls in both, miyazaki sirloin, and the bottom flap washu beef.
The combination dinner also included additional 3 small meat plates, salad, pickled veggies, dessert, and a hot corn tea. We also ordered a side of vegetables, which I recommend given how cheap and complementary they are to the meal. The first entree is a sukiyaki beef on rice, which was the best thing I ate, though the similarly thin slice of beef at the end of the meal coated in raw egg was a close second. Both are super thin, barely cooked and were covered in a sweet sauce that wasn’t overpowering.
Make a reservation!
