Founded in 1983, (German for “Brewmaster”), Der Brau is one of the West side’s best family-owned restaurants, with an extensive (and often exclusive) beer list and modernized German cuisine. The food is so good here! The sauerbraten meal was melt-in-the-mouth tender, accompanied by spaetzle and red cabbage. The St. Moritz schnitzel was so perfectly crisp and tender. The decor wraps you up in warmth, like a visit to your grandparents’ place. We stopped by during the middle of the week and received attentive service.

Had the schnitzel, sauerkraut balls (both regular and spicy with the curry ketchup!) , cucumber salad , and the cream puff. it was all amazing, had a draft Pilsner that I can’t remember that was smooth, crisp and refreshing. Kevin was friendly and helpful with our orders ! Good vibes too

First time customers, had a great experience. Service was fantastic, food was definitely authentic.
Ordered potato pancakes, sauerkraut balls to start, chicken schnitzel with mash potatoes and apple sauce for the wife, and sausage plate with potato salad and sauerkraut for me.
Everything tasted excellent.
I also had a few Hefeweizen.
Atmosphere was nice, they keep the lights dim, and I’ve always appreciated restaurants that do this, it keeps people from being too loud when talking and makes for a better experience. So thank you!

Dietary concerns are shown on the menu. GF items are cooked on the stove top with it’s own equipment.
I had the make your own schnitzel (GF panko) and it was very yummy!
My sides were mashed potatoes and gravy (all gravys are made with cornstarch) and maple roasted carrots. I am super full but dont feel sick or heavy. Would definitely come back!

Loved our experience! We came for a very late lunch/early dinner and enjoyed several beers, an appetizer, two specials, and dessert in an incredibly cozy environment (it’s easy to imagine spending multiple hours hanging out here!). Our server was attentive and friendly, and the owner came out to check in on us and to offer several menu recommendations. Can’t wait to come back – thanks again for taking such good care of us.

Another delicious german food location in the greater Cleveland area. Authentic Schnitzel–i opted for pork. This place let’s you build your own! (And has a veggie option) Spaetzle (of course)-Authentic. Parking is a bit limited, but quaint atmosphere (traditional german bar setting) and very friendly service.

We have visited many German Restaurants and this was definitely one of our favorites! The food was delicious. We loved the extensive beer list and the exceptional service too! We will definitely be back the next time we’re in Cleveland! Thank you all too for being so respectful of the Service Dog and automatically giving us the corner table.
