Came for tacos.
Left questioning my spice tolerance and life choices.

First of all, the food? Aggressively flavorful. Like it didn’t ask permission. That plate pulled up and said, “We’re doing this.”

The tacos had that perfect combo of:
• “Grandma made this.”
• “But grandma is low-key dangerous.”

The pickled onions? Bright pink. Loud. Unapologetic. The kind of garnish that walks in like it pays rent.

The chicken was so juicy it needed its own liability insurance.
The tortillas? Not the dry, sad kind. These were “I respect myself” tortillas.

Atmosphere:
Industrial cool. Steel beams. Food hall energy. You can eat amazing tacos while pretending you’re in a Vice documentary about authentic street food.

Bonus points:
You can bring a date here and look cultured without actually knowing anything about Mexican regional cuisine. Just nod and say:
“Yeah, you can really taste the Yucatán influence.”

Overall:
If you leave hungry, that’s a personal failure.

Would absolutely go back.
Would absolutely order too much again.
Would absolutely pretend I can handle more heat than I can.

I got the El Pastor tacos. They were amazing. Some of the most flavorful tacos i have ever had. They were cooked to order, so it took about 5 minutes. It was a somewhat modest portion for the price, but they were so good I didn’t care. Service was also top notch.

So delicious! This was our second time to the foundry. My husband and I shared chips and guacamole, a pork tamale, and the pork belly tacos. Absolutely fantastic flavor on all of these! We also had a side of some delicious hot sauce that was a little too spicy for us but we kept eating it because it was so good. Definitely going to be coming back here and trying more delicious food. Everyone was super nice and eager to hear our thoughts. Highly recommend!!

Stopped at The Foundry Food Hall before the City game. Ordered sight unseen from the website as I was reserving a table. 4 tacos was a bit much as they are a little larger than regular street tacos. Regardless, I smashed 2 shrimp and 2 pork tacos. Very tasty. I will be back for sure. Added a pic of the tray of 6 tacos from 03/15/2025: 2 Shrimp, 2 Al Pastor, 2 pork. Soooo good.

Best tacos I’ve ever had. The flavors here marry each other like soul mates, every thing I’ve tried is delicious. CELIAC FRIENDS: THIS IS THE SPOT. Fully gluten free kitchen!!!! Absolute must have, and they are so kind and knowledgeable.

True authentic Mexican fare! This is rare find in the midwest. You definitely need to try the hibiscus drink!

I was excited to try this restaurant as I’m in search of great tacos is the STL area. It’s located in the food hall at the foundry and not a stand alone restaurant.

First impressions were
The guy at the counter looked like I was interrupting something more important to him. I asked if I could get the sauces on the side and he flatly explained that there are no modifications. I told him I didn’t want to chance there being something in the sauce that I couldn’t have. He blinked at me and stared so chance it I did.

We tried the pork tacos which weren’t bad but could have been done better. The come 2 to and order. The pork belly skin was not properly rendered and ate so sticky it stuck to my teeth. The tacos were generously filled but made it almost impossible to eat all components together. The sauces were bright and acidic which helped cut the fat off the protein.

Overall not bad but not sure I’ll try it again.

Flavors were amazing! Ordered the Castacan tacos and Tamal Colado. Perfectly cooked! Great sauces. Little pricey, but good. Take the hot sauce. Just ease into it!

Wow… 2nd time to the City Foundry… after looking around the special here attracted me… then when talking to the guy behind the counter his passion for the food sold me on this being the place of my choosing this time. He even took a selfish with me.

The portions were generous, the flavors were amazing, the meat had both tender and crispy qualities about it. The sauces they gave me each exploded with flavors… the Verde sauce they gave me was by a very long way the best Verde sauce I’ve ever had to date at any Mexican restaurant I’ve been to.

If I were to complain about something… it would be that it is pricey… my meal alone was $20 + tax… but the portions were large and I actually wasn’t able to finish my plate.

I wish I would have taken pictures so I gave you all I got… what’s left of my plate and the restaurant. LoL, sorry, I’ll do better next time.

Outstanding, authentic Mexican food. Do not come here hoping to find burritos, hard “shell” tacos or anything like that. No sir, not here. Chips and salsa may be the closest thing to most “Mexican” restaurants around here. I had the Castacán tacos and they were absolutely delicious. Definitely on my top 3 of St Louis tacos. I wanted to try other stands but came back for the panuchos, they were a bit different to other panuchos I’ve had but still, veeery good. I couldn’t finish them though, will for sure be back to try more menu items. It’s not cheap at all though, over $30 for 2 tacos and 2 panuchos, but well worth the price.
