The Fremont outlet is awesome. Excellent food. Only let down is the Peas Kochuri, which turned out more to be a Kulcha. The chholar daal was amazing. Exactly like homemade food.
But the Mutton kosha, Goat Biriyani, and rhe Egg chicken role were simply amazing.

I’m so happy there’s finally a place that sells truly authentic Bengali-style snacks! I got to try my beloved fuchka after so long, and it tasted just like home, absolutely authentic and delicious. The prices are super reasonable too, under $7 a plate, which is amazing for the quality and quantity.
We also tried the samosa chaat platter, and it was incredible, perfectly balanced sweet and tangy flavors with that crunchy samosa topping. It’s such a generous portion that even two people would have a hard time finishing it!
Overall, this place brought back so many good memories, I can’t wait to come back and try more items from their menu!

If you’re craving authentic Bengali flavors in the Bay Area, Calculate Chat and Bakery is a must-visit. This gem serves up traditional Bengali dishes that transport you straight to the heart of Kolkata. Their fish fry is a standout – crispy, flavorful, and utterly addictive. But it’s not just about the food – the real magic is in the hospitality. Every thali is a labor of love, filled with a variety of dishes that’ll take you back to your childhood memories. And let’s not forget the sweets. From classic Rashgolla to creamy Misti Doi, Chanar Jilapi, Malai Chomchom, and Langcha – their dessert spread is a Bengali sweet tooth’s paradise. Five stars for the warm, welcoming vibes and authentic flavors that’ll leave you feeling like you’re part of the family.

This Indian restaurant is located in Ardenwood Plaza. The name, Chaat & Bakery, suggests a focus on bakery items, but it actually offers a mix of Calcutta street food, Indo-Chinese dishes, and classic Indian staples. The bakery section mainly features puffs and a few sweets, but they didn’t look very fresh.

We started with the Puchka/Pani Puri, which was really good. The Veg/Chicken Manchow soups were tasty, though a bit heavy on the sauces. When I saw the American Choupsey, I instantly wanted to try it, and it tasted perfect – though the noodles softened up quickly. They should’ve preferred mixing noodles and gravy little later to keep the crispness. The Chicken Egg Roll was okay, though it was overloaded with cucumber and onions rather than chicken, and the thin roti it was wrapped in was nice.

The Chicken Mughlai Paratha was deep-fried, which we didn’t expect, but it was still flavorful. The Indo-Chinese dishes, like Chowmein and Fried Rice, were the highlights – authentic street-style flavors and definitely a must-try. The Veg Cutlet, which was mostly beetroot, leaned a bit on the sweeter side but was still good. We also tried the Ghugni Pav, which was a nice addition.

Overall, we had a pleasant dinner. While the ambience could be improved, the food was good.

Never had this great Bengali food in the bay. You must come here to taste the authentic Bengali cuisine. The gentleman at the reception is an amazing person and will make you feel homely. I will come here again and again.

After two satisfying takeout orders and rave reviews passed around my friends’ group chat, I finally made my way to Calcutta Chaat and Sweets for a dine-in experience—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

TL;DR – Right now, this is by far the best Indo-Chinese spot in the South Bay.

We dug into a variety of dishes: chow mein, fried rice, gobhi Manchurian, chicken lollipop, and chicken Manchurian (not all in one sitting ). Everything was fresh, crispy, and perfectly spiced. It’s that balance of flavor and texture you crave in Indo-Chinese. Each dish had that perfect crunch, a bit of spice, and a depth of flavor that hit the spot.

I also ventured into their traditional offerings: chicken kosha, veg cutlet, and misthi doi. The misthi doi especially—honestly, it took me straight back to my childhood on the streets of Cuttack (a neighboring city to Kolkata). If you’ve ever wandered through the lanes of Cuttack, you’ll know the streets hum with this distinct fusion of flavors. The chicken kosha was rich and comforting, while the veg cutlet had that nostalgic crunch.

It’s evident the owners are serious about keeping the authenticity alive—and I have no doubt this place can be a game-changer in the Bay Area food scene, which is often overrun by generic South Indian eateries or overpriced North Indian spots that claim Michelin-level status. Here, you get real flavors, real taste, and real heart.

Wishing the team all the best and hoping they maintain this high-quality, authentic experience for years to come. If you’re in the Bay Area and craving Indo-Chinese or true Bengali street food, this is the place to check out.

We reached during evening and tried chai with mutton cutlet, fish fry and Kathi roll. The taste was spot on and reminded me of Kolkata.
The taste is very authentic , something I generally haven’t found in other Bay Area Bengali restaurants.
We also tried Mishti doi and nolen gur sandesh.. the sandesh felt more like katakana, but the taste was spot on!

The ambiance was great.. they had soothing rabindra sangeet playing.

Super thrilled to have this restaurant open up in Fremont. We regularly visit their Milpitas store, it’s far for us, but totally worth the drive. Having this open nearby makes it easier to get some delicious Bengali cuisine.

My favorites include their fish fry, mutton cutlet, veg cutlet and their egg rolls. I tried the Dhaba style dal tadka roti and really liked it. Indian Chinese options are also delicious. Must try restaurant! Don’t forget to get the sandesh, it’s legit good.

The starters were great—a strong start to the meal! However, the main courses were a letdown. The gravies lacked flavor, and the breads were chewy and disappointing. A major issue was that nearly half the menu was unavailable. Needs significant improvement on the main dishes and consistency.

The chicken biryani was clearly reheated in the microwave and lacked any flavor or freshness. The veg thali was underwhelming and definitely not worth the price. Overall, a very disappointing meal — I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
