I’ve heard great things about Marukin for decades but finally got around to it after my son experienced it. What a gem! Excellent food and service. Wonderful lunch combo specials. Why did I wait so long?
Easy parking.

Very good prices. Clean, great food, good Asian beer selection. Sapporo on tap. Service was very good. Definitely will return. They have a good variety of sushi. They have sake, plum wine, a good selection of wine, and they have lots of combo deals. The lunch special is a hearty meal and quite affordable at $8. They have vegetarian options and it is wheelchair accessible, though, I don’t know about the washroom.
I was pleasantly surprised when I went there today for the first time. I hope to try it again soon.

Marukin Restaurant is, without a doubt, my go-to spot in the city. This Japanese and Thai restaurant has quickly become my favorite, and for good reason. The owner does all the cooking, which ensures a consistently high level of quality and freshness in every dish. You can really taste the difference—each plate feels carefully crafted, and the ingredients are always vibrant and flavorful. The prices are also very reasonable, making it easy to indulge in excellent Japanese and Thai cuisine without breaking the bank.
Living close by, it’s tough to resist stopping in frequently, and I find myself returning more often than I can count. Over the years, I’ve brought countless friends here, and they all end up loving it just as much as I do. Marukin has a certain hidden gem quality, making it feel like a special discovery in Windsor. The owner is genuinely kind and clearly passionate about his work, which adds a personal touch that makes each visit memorable.
I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu—from the fresh sushi and sashimi to the flavorful Thai curries—and I’ve yet to be disappointed. The seafood is fresh, the spices in the curries are perfectly balanced, and the portions are just right. You simply can’t go wrong at Marukin. If you’re in Windsor and craving Japanese or Thai, do yourself a favor and visit this wonderful spot.

Had the sashimi platter as an appetizer, it tasted very fresh, salmon and tuna all were very good. And then for my main I had a steak and prawn hibachi style dinner, which was amazing. It’s all at a very good price, would recommend. Lovely service and very friendly vibe.

Tonight we had the best dinner out we have had in a long time. Not only were the beautiful people at Marukin willing to accommodate us at the last minute on a Saturday night but the food was top notch. 3 of us ordered the hibachi dinners and it was really cool how they served us one course at a time. I also really appreciate that they brought out the kids dinners first so they didn’t have to wait. We had a variety of items off the menu and everything was absolutely delicious and so fresh. Oftentimes when you order vegetables at a restaurant they are a frozen medley but this was not the case here and we were each served a wonderful variety of hand prepped mushrooms, onions, and zucchini. Finally, the salad dressing, which they make in house, was probably the best salad dressing I have ever had. If they bottled it and sold it they would have me a loyal customer. In addition to the delicious food the staff was also very friendly, welcoming, and on the ball. I also feel that I should mention how reasonably priced everything was! For a teriyaki rib eye dinner served with soup, rice, veggies, and a salad and drink it was less than $20. All in all, our night at Marukin was an incredible experience and we look forward to many more family meals there to come.
