“Style over substance,” as BakeOff would say. Sharing pics of the decor bc it’s the only thing worthwhile here. Mild correction: the food is adequate, in a standard-American-greasy-diner-way. I couldn’t finish my burger and tater tots they were so greasy, and the ice cream was freezer burned.
The staff made me feel like they were doing me a favor with attitude the entire time. I rarely post poor reviews, and esp not for servers, it’s often a thankless, demanding job. But EVERY server?? I dealt with 3. All distinctly unpleasant. Strongly recommend going one block up to Sugar Doodles- SO friendly and helpful, space heaters outside, with delicious açaí/pitaya bowls, waffles and ice cream.

My kids and I stumbled upon this luncheonette when they noticed the ice cream sign while we were driving around town. We stopped in and had a great time! The food and ice cream were amazing, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. We stayed for over an hour playing card games and enjoying our treats, we will certainly be back again!

Stam’s is an absolute gem. It was the kind of cold day that demanded a grilled cheese and tomato soup, and boy, extremely did Stam’s deliver. Their modern diner vibe that is extremely charming, and their playlist hit the spot. Their staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, too. We also recommend the pickle chips and butternut curry soup!

Can be great diner food, one day your melt will be amazing the next day the same melt will have almost no meat on it. Ice Cream is solid too, never had a bad scoop.
But it really feels like you’re imposing on them by being there, perhaps only friendly to people they went to high school with? Small town thing? I don’t know. One cook gives us scowling dirty looks, another person watching the table not for service but as if the people at the table are to be judged. Not rude in a fun way, more like “we can’t wait until you leave” type of vibe.

What a great place, the kids enjoyed their ice cream, however, the owner appeared to be extremely annoying at the fact that she had to serve us and answer questions about me, adding malt to a milkshake. The employees of compensated by saying thank you, but the owner clearly lacks the ability to communicate and have a friendly smile on our face. We visited this for the Friday night Events held by the town in Chestertown. To be a customer and not feel appreciated by the owner truly made me feel that this place was not worth a second visit. I’m sure the owner does a great job, I’m sure she continues to make a wonderful product, but clearly she should stay in the back room, making the ice cream, and not being out annoyed with the fact that customers were coming into her establishment. I don’t often post negativity on a place but in this case, we felt very unwelcome!

The waitress was rude from the start when ordering. She acted annoyed when I asked questions about the menu. We got $55 worth of food and she had attitude and acted like I asked for her first born when I asked for the chips she told me that came with my meal. She slapped them down on the table and said “here are your chips anyone else?” and walked away. Do not recommend.

Not many choices after 2pm on A Sunday in Chestertown. So this restaurant was busy. We stopped in for lunch, most of the business was for ice cream. Food was so-so, kind of like what you’d make for yourself at home. Sandwich came with a very small bag of chips, water was self serve.

I love going to Stams for lunch and ice cream! They’re renovated the place beautifully to reflect the how it was as a pharmacy with an ice cream/float/soda bar. Clean with plenty of seating!
I get the veggie burger and tater tots! Each time I order this meal it is spot on and 10/10! Tater tots are perfectly crispy and the veggie burger is so yummy with a delicate buttery bun!
Ice cream is very creamy with creative flavors and they have a variety of cones to choose from! Plus, they have cats in the windows that are fun to watch!

The food here was amazing. I was here on vacation, but I will come back next time I’m in town. The pizza grilled cheese was delicious and creative. The blueberry lemonade reminded me of my mother’s blueberry pie. I wasn’t sure about the fried pickles, but my friend offered to share theirs… I ended up eating 1/4 or more. Absolutely recommend this place.
