The chicken was incredible—super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It was the perfect casual meal for a night downtown. If you’re looking for top-tier comfort food in Houston, you have to stop by here. We will definitely be back for another round soon!
I was hungry but didn’t want anything huge to eat. The menu offered at Rick and Tommy’s was perfect. Seeing how close it was to my hotel, I decided to walk over.
Rick and Tommy’s sits in the back left corner of the Underground Dining Hall. The space itself is cute and swank and offers a full seating area for those who choose to dine in. As I needed to change and go over the run of show I decided to take out.
The menu is straightforward, as such I decided to do the:
Ant’s Sandwich w/
Coleslaw and
Honey Siracha
The guy took my order and adjusted it would be about 5 minutes.
As I waited, I observed how clean the space was. Everything had a place and none of the corners were nasty. I was super impressed by the cleanliness of the area, as well as the care put into the food prep.
About 4 minutes later, my order was ready and my eyes were in awe when I looked at the plate. Everything looked Amazingggggg.
The chicken was hot and steaming. The fries were steaming. The aroma from the sauce was captivating and the bun was super soft. I couldn’t wait to get to my room so I could eat.
Upon sitting down to eat, I noticed my sandwich had lettuce instead of the coleslaw I asked for, however, no big deal. Now. Let’s talk about the flavors.
Ant’s Sandwich – Whew! This was an amazing treat. The chicken was seasoned and Fred to perfection. The honey Siracha was a great pairing and provided a pleasure of heat and sweat. The softness of the bun went great on top of the crunch of the chicken. And eat of all, this sandwich was supper filling and good to the last bite.
The fries – crunchy, seasoned, and a perfect density to them. Though the sandwich stole the show, the fries made you remember they were there.
Rick and Tommy’s was a great experience. My next trip to Hou I’m definitely pulling up again.
My only complaint is that the three spice levels are bound to only one flavor. I don’t care for Nashville Hot however it’s the only medium spice level available which is my favorite spice level. Buffalo is my favorite, but it’s only available in mild. I wish they had buffalo medium and hot spice levels
