We were looking for a dinner spot and stumbled upon Ate-Oh-Ate (808, the Hawaii area code) on Watson in downtown Beaverton.

I was looking for a place where I can have a quick lunch with my toddler. I was born in Hawaii and know what the native flavor are supposed to taste.
Quite frankly, this is the served Hawaiian restaurant that I’ve been into that has been Americanized and unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations.
Loco moco is my favorite, but the sauce was watery, and the meat was hard. The macaroni salad is usually a combo, but it was a separate fee.
My daughter seemed to have liked it, but it definitely didn’t have the impact I’m used to having on the island.
I’m still continuing my search, hoping to find an authentic Hawaiian cuisine nearby in the region, wasn’t worth the $35 paid.

Arrived at 8:30, looking to order. Lady begins register said take out only as dining room is closed. I explained I can’t take out due to prosthetic leg. She look at and and pretty much said oh well, even though she didn’t say a word. Her body language said it all. We walked right out of there.
I would’ve thought that they would’ve also is to eat in the dining room since they have to do side work before going home. I guess they had all their side work already done at 8:30 pm. If I was the owner of this business, I wouldn’t want my employees to close dining room at 8:30 pm.
Too bad, never going back there again due to the fact I had to walk 3 blocks since there is no dedicated parking, it’s all street parking from what I gather. With a prosthetic leg, that was a chore and I had to leave on an empty stomach.
If you’re an ADA, I wouldn’t recommend coming to this place. Parking is scarce and dining room closes at 8:30, if not sooner.

Three of us went and we all enjoyed our food. The ribs were excellent, the poke was great and loved the service. Parking is a bit of a challenge in this area so we went on a weeknight and found a spot after a few blocks. Always a treat to get some excellent Hawaiian food! Lots of outdoor seating and indoor seating as well.

I had a Mochico chicken and teriyaki chicken combo plate because I couldn’t decide between the two. The chicken was fantastic. I don’t know which one I liked more. They both had fantastic flavor and we’re well cooked. I adore the house teriyaki sauce. The only thing I did not love was the pasta salad. it was pretty ok and I liked the carrots in it, but it really lacked flavor; It tasted like boiled pasta with mayo and carrots and a little bit of salt.
The dish would have been wonderfully paired with a bit of coleslaw or some thing fresh. But otherwise it was really wonderful and I had enough leftover to eat it again today and it was great.
I had a piña colada to drink (no rum) and it was YUMMY M. It was perfect with my meal and was very enjoyable.
I paid just a smidge over $20 for my huge meal and my delicious drink
We ate inside of the restaurant and it’s very clean and spacious. My food was served surprisingly fast. My lunch meat had fried rice with sausage in it and it was magnificent. I had a couple of bites and it was so incredibly flavorful.
The only thing I did not like about the environment was the music. It was an ok mix of older alternative music, and then it turned into rock music, and it was just too much. Perhaps something a little less edgy would have made the atmosphere more relaxing and more enjoyable, and more festive.
If you or your companion are sensitive to loud music, or if you become overstimulated because of hard rock type music, you’ll probably want to sit outside . But there’s lots and lots of outside seating.

Tl;dr: Eat at any of the many other Hawaiian places in town like Roxy’s or 808 Grinds.
I haven’t been here since the owners converted this from Big’s Chicken to this new Hawaiian concept because I *really* liked Big’s Chicken. I finally decided to try it out to give it a fair shake and, man, I was just really disappointed. I had the mochiko chicken and kalbi ribs with the mac salad. The chicken was fine but the kalbi was pretty flavorless. The mac salad was fine but also nothing to write home about.
I’ve been going to Roxy’s and 808 Grinds for Hawaiian food for years now and they are better by far in terms of food quality. Roxy’s has its problems in terms of how slow they can be but I’d rather wait and get better food than ever go here and deal with the awful parking situation for a mediocre plate.
You’d think if you’re going to replace an amazing smoked chicken joint with a Hawaiian restaurant, you’d at least match the quality of the other restaurants in the area. I don’t ever see myself coming back here. RIP Big’s, you died for this.

This was my first time trying this place.The poke bowl had very few pieces of fish, and the quality wasn’t as fresh as I had hoped. For $17, I expected a better portion and taste. There is Joy poke around the corner which is actually really good.
The teriyaki chicken was tough and overcooked.
Very disappointed with the food, especially for the price. I wouldn’t personally recommend it, but hopefully, they can improve their quality in the future.

Ate oh ate dinner on a Friday night. Friendly staff, food was fresh and tasted great, large portions. I ordered the kalua pork and cabbage, side salad (fresh) and 2 large scoops of rice (instead of salad you can get Mac salad). You order at the counter and they serve you at the table you select. They also have Maui Brewing POG hard seltzer, which was fresh and tasted great. They have nice decorations, staff was friendly and kind. Prices were very reasonable. Great to have Hawaiian style food when you can’t get to Hawaii. They do have a large outdoor seating area. Beaverton location means parking can be challenging.

gentrified hawaiian food it lacks flavor and taste, i’m saying this also because the price of the food doesn’t reflect on the quality of the food. The customer service isn’t the best either the person on register barely greets anyone and their face is like .. not too much of aloha spirit i guess. If you want a real taste of hawaii please stick to the food trucks that are owned by hawaiian natives.
