Samosa Flam Grill in Eagan, Minnesota, is a hidden gem that brings the flavors of Somali cuisine to the heart of the Midwest. This mom-and-pop halal fast food spot stands out for its authentic and delicious Somali dishes, offering a taste of something truly unique in the area. The menu features a variety of traditional items, from flavorful samosas to hearty platters of rice and meat, all prepared with care and attention to detail. Each dish is rich in spices and full of the bold, vibrant flavors that Somali cuisine is known for.

The restaurant itself is simple and unpretentious, with a clean and inviting atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. The no-frills design focuses on what really matters—the food. Despite its modest appearance, Samosa Flam Grill is welcoming to all, with friendly staff who are happy to guide you through the menu if you’re unfamiliar with Somali cuisine.

For those seeking a taste of something different, Samosa Flam Grill offers an authentic dining experience that’s both satisfying and memorable. It’s a must-visit for anyone in Eagan looking to explore the rich culinary traditions of Somalia, served up in a comfortable and approachable setting.

I had the tilapia (it comes with biryani/rice pilaf) and shaah (tea). The food was great! The portions are also huge. I thought I was getting one serving, but the tilapia order came with 2 servings. If you’re getting takeout, I don’t recommend using an ordering app, because if they run out of something, the app won’t show it. Call in or stop in to order instead. Most of the entrees are meat dishes, but they do have some vegetarian food (falafel, cambuulo, malawax, etc.).

Beef suqaar was delicious, one of the best I’ve had. Sambusas were good – loved the crisp, but little too greasy. Staff was friendly.

Samosa Flame Grill has great food and a lot of variety!! I had the BBQ chicken platter, the goat meat platter, and the gyro wraps. Everything is prepared fresh to order. This is a solid spot for East African cuisine! I will stop in again to try more from the menu. These are healthy portion sizes too!

Got the lunch special, rice and goat. I was worried that the goat would have a gamey taste but I was surprised that it was very flavorful. You get 3 sauces 2 of them are spicy and the third is ranch for the side salad. You get a whole lot of food for $20. I will be splitting it up into 3 meals.

With this meal you get a drink and banana along with it. Very happy about the service and food

I live in Milwaukee and eat way too much takeout and at restaurants, but I love good food, so it’s worth it. Anyway, back to the point: if you’re in the area you need to eat here at Samosa Flame Grill; you would be doing yourself a disservice by passing over it. A man who came in right after us had come all the way from Minnetonka just for the food. “The rice here is amazing”, he said. Well, he was not kidding- I adore good rice and I think the rice that came with my chicken suqaar I could have eaten for breakfast, lunch, and dinner both due to the quantity and that it was prepared to perfection. You’ll just have to try it for yourself, but imagine the best rice you’ve ever eaten and this will be even better seasoned sublimely, flecked with beautiful pops of red and green. And then the chicken. Juicy and delicious, each bite making me shut my mouth and close my eyes because I wanted to focus all my energy on tasting it (I usually talk a lot if you can’t tell). My friend got the chicken gyro and it melted in my mouth in a way I didn’t know I was missing from previous chicken gyro experiences. The portions as mentioned are generous and the prices are very reasonable. Finally, the woman at the cash register was so so warm welcoming and friendly (despite and also having made enough sambosas to feed a small town, during Ramadan no less) and though the restaurant is small we were so glad we ate in. In plain words, you gotta eat here.

Joke of a business

I called ahead like a responsible adult so my order would be ready when I arrived. They swore it’d be ready. I show up…nothing. Just blank stares and a “it’s not ready yet.” Then I wait an entire hour watching the staff move like they’re underwater. If lying to customers and wasting their time were a service, these people would be five stars. Never again.
