Stopped in for some tasty Mexican food for lunch. Tried the fajitas, tacos, and a couple of different kinds of quesadillas in addition to chips with cheese and salsa. It was nice to see tables be bussed quickly and cleaned well between customers. The level of cleanliness was above and beyond. The service was adequate, but our server had a little trouble understanding, so we went without a few things and made do with a couple of minor mistakes in our order. He was putting forth effort and was friendly, so that’s worth mentioning. The food was as good as the other El Vercruz locations we have visited in and around Tupelo. The carnitas plate was a home run (the meat was meaty, not fatty), and the guacamole was fresh and light. The huevos rancheros was cooked perfectly, and the red sauce…I could eat that on just about anything. Don’t be afraid to ask for the secret salsa picante, but be ready for the HEAT. It is absolutely delicious added to the chips and salsa, too.

I wish they had virgin daiquiris. The enchiladas were skimpy on the veggies which I paid extra for . But the Mexican bowl was phenomenal and a must have dish for any body that has an endless stomach.

DO NOT go to El Veracruz on North Gloster if you don’t want to made feel like a CRIMINAL! We were there today on date night and ordered a pitcher of margaritas. My husband finished eating and asked for a tea to go. Since I was still eating and he wasn’t offered a refill on his glass, he poured some of the to go tea on his glass. The waiter IMMIDIATELY told us that the to go cup was for the tea and not the margaritas assuming we were going to pour the rest on the to go cup??! We said he was out and needed a drink. They IMMEDIATELY stationed 2 waitresses on the empty table next to us to watch and started making rounds until we finished. I told the manager that was uncalled for and even showed them what was in the to go cup, which they charged for. I told him we were going to give them a review for the way we were treated and he just shrugged. Be aware people!

Normally a great place to eat but after today can’t see going back. Ordered fajita Jalisco and the shrimp was so hard ,steak no seasoning rice dry and guac brown and soured. Ordered Dr pepper and it was flat. Waitress seemed distracted and had to repeat multiple times. When food came he sat it on far end of table and left. Ask for manager and very politely explained . He took offense and snatched up my plate. Took it off bill but one order of p5 and cheese dip with drink was still 32. Maybe just an off day but I won’t be back .

If you want a great ribeye steak done just a little bit differently, you should try the Cheese Steak. It is a ribeye cooked to perfection, topped with cooked onions and smothered in white cheese dip. It will melt in your mouth ! Yum!

Great Mexican restaurant estaurant. All the servers and staff look and act friendly and professional. Service was as good as you can hope for. Frequently checked on us but did not bother us. Big selection on the menu. Food came out very fast. Would definitely visit again when we are in town.
