As soon as I walked in, I wasn’t greeted. There was an older, chaparrita waitress who straight up gave me looks, like she was judging me up and down, wondering what I was doing there. I told her it was my first time and that I’d passed by before because it always smells so good. You could tell she was rushing me and basically wanted me in and out.
I ordered the parrillada #3 ribs, fajita, sausage, and chicken for about $50. I also got an agua fresca de sandía, and honestly it was really good, super refreshing.
Now let’s talk about the food.
The costillas were delicious, the meat literally fell off the bone and tasted like barbacoa. The fajitas were super soft and full of flavor, also barbacoa vibes. The chicken was okay, pero le falta algo.
Overall, the food is really good, especially the ribs. The service though, not so much. Honestly, it’s probably better to just go through the drive-thru and not dine in.
I really like the special on Tuesday’s that you buy one chicken and they give you half a chicken for free. Highly recommend
First, I made a simple request to substitute the standard beans and rice sides for a side salad. I was flatly told, “We don’t do that.” What’s insulting is that this establishment has a Mexican buffet with all the ingredients for a salad readily available. It would have taken minimal effort to accommodate a paying customer, but the staff displayed zero willingness to help. The solution offered? To simply buy a separate salad. Unacceptable and lazy.
Then, to add financial insult to poor service, I discovered a “Non-Cash Sale” fee on my receipt after I had already paid. When I asked the employee what this was, she casually identified it as a “processing fee.” Let me be perfectly clear: There was no signage warning of this fee, and it was never mentioned during the transaction. This is a deceptive practice, plain and simple. When confronted, the employee feigned ignorance and made no attempt to rectify the situation or apologize for the lack of transparency.
The collective attitude from the staff was one of sheer indifference. They acted as if customer requests were a burden and saw no issue with springing hidden charges on patrons. I did not feel like a valued guest; I felt like a transaction they couldn’t be bothered with.
Save your money and your patience. A restaurant that nickels-and-dimes its customers with secret fees and refuses to provide even the most basic level of accommodating service does not deserve your business. I will not be returning.
I had ordered gorditas with egg, but unfortunately, the gorditas were very hard, and the egg had an unpleasant odor, as if it had been sitting out for an extended period of time.
When it came time to pay, the server gave me a price and asked if I’d like to leave a tip, to which I agreed. However, the final total charged didn’t seem to match the original amount plus the tip, which was confusing.
Additionally, there was an issue with my card not initially going through because I had forgotten to unlock it. What I assume was the manager — she was the only one wearing a brown shirt — made a comment that she gets charged $0.03 every time a card doesn’t pass. I asked for clarification, and she repeated the statement in a dismissive tone. I told her she could simply charge me the $0.03, but her attitude came across as unprofessional and disrespectful.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I do not plan on returning.
