I stopped by El Rey de las Costillas after passing by this place a few times. Every time I drove by, it smelled increíble, so today I finally decided to stop and check it out. They do have a drive-thru, but I went inside since it was my first time.

As soon as I walked in, I wasn’t greeted. There was an older, chaparrita waitress who straight up gave me looks, like she was judging me up and down, wondering what I was doing there. I told her it was my first time and that I’d passed by before because it always smells so good. You could tell she was rushing me and basically wanted me in and out.

I ordered the parrillada #3 ribs, fajita, sausage, and chicken for about $50. I also got an agua fresca de sandía, and honestly it was really good, super refreshing.

Now let’s talk about the food.
The costillas were delicious, the meat literally fell off the bone and tasted like barbacoa. The fajitas were super soft and full of flavor, also barbacoa vibes. The chicken was okay, pero le falta algo.

Overall, the food is really good, especially the ribs. The service though, not so much. Honestly, it’s probably better to just go through the drive-thru and not dine in.

The ribs were all fat and tendon very little meat, look like ribs meat was cut off the top before cooking also it was very wet and steamy like cooked in a pressure cooker rather than fresh off the pit. The rice was about a two table spoon serving and forget about the beans all juice very little beans said I want to change my order because I was not satisfied with the plate but they refused me service, they said I could just leave. Looked like the owner got offended, who wouldn’t even allow me to pay for my drink. So I went across the street to Pollo Hut, 1st time there 5 Stars see my review with photos. Never coming back to El Rey de Costillas.

1st time here at I might say it was a lil sad. There was… what can I say foods I can make at home for a fraction of the price. I expected fajitas sausage… u know food that’s shown on the front pic of the establishment. Waitresses come to and ask if u want the buffet, but u have to pay up front wit them. They didn’t give me time to look around for it being my 1st time there. They’re in a go go go. When I mentioned my 1st time give me time to look. I dont even know if I could order something different. If I could just offer a menu or something no rush me and say buffet, cuz I didn’t c anything worth paying $15. The food was ok, but Im just saying.

I have just ordered to go for dinner and the chicken is great, I paid 41$ for two chickens. The order comes with rice, beans, salsa and tortillas. I’m glad the beans are not spicy like in other places because my daughter can eat beans as well.
I really like the special on Tuesday’s that you buy one chicken and they give you half a chicken for free. Highly recommend

got 6 tacos, got charged $30 and they don’t give you an itemized receipt so i don’t know how much each taco is. repeated my order like 3 times to the señora (who was in a grumpy mood) and she repeated it back only to still get my order wrong, great. not to mention, they put them damned watered down, flavorless salsas at the bottom of the bag and at least one bursts every time getting everything wet. called to see if they can make it right, same señora gave me attitude and when i asked for a manager, she wasn’t in and wouldn’t be in. it really sucks when you try to support local businesses because the professionalism & customer service is ALWAYS shit. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this one on tik tok trying to guilt trip people to come spend their money on their terrible service & food because ‘business is slow’

Cashier was very disrespectful, food had flies flying all around food. I told Cashier and she told me if i didn’t like it i could leave. So i left. If anyone ate there today, hope you all didn’t get sick flies laying eggs on food left out in the open and not covered properly, I will never eat at this place again.

My entire interaction with the staff was so frustrating and indicative of a complete disregard for the customer experience that I feel compelled to warn others.

First, I made a simple request to substitute the standard beans and rice sides for a side salad. I was flatly told, “We don’t do that.” What’s insulting is that this establishment has a Mexican buffet with all the ingredients for a salad readily available. It would have taken minimal effort to accommodate a paying customer, but the staff displayed zero willingness to help. The solution offered? To simply buy a separate salad. Unacceptable and lazy.

Then, to add financial insult to poor service, I discovered a “Non-Cash Sale” fee on my receipt after I had already paid. When I asked the employee what this was, she casually identified it as a “processing fee.” Let me be perfectly clear: There was no signage warning of this fee, and it was never mentioned during the transaction. This is a deceptive practice, plain and simple. When confronted, the employee feigned ignorance and made no attempt to rectify the situation or apologize for the lack of transparency.

The collective attitude from the staff was one of sheer indifference. They acted as if customer requests were a burden and saw no issue with springing hidden charges on patrons. I did not feel like a valued guest; I felt like a transaction they couldn’t be bothered with.

Save your money and your patience. A restaurant that nickels-and-dimes its customers with secret fees and refuses to provide even the most basic level of accommodating service does not deserve your business. I will not be returning.

We arrived at the restaurant around 10:50 AM and were greeted by a friendly staff member who remained pleasant throughout our visit. However, it took approximately 50 minutes for our food to be served. We eventually had to get up and ask about the status of our order.
I had ordered gorditas with egg, but unfortunately, the gorditas were very hard, and the egg had an unpleasant odor, as if it had been sitting out for an extended period of time.
When it came time to pay, the server gave me a price and asked if I’d like to leave a tip, to which I agreed. However, the final total charged didn’t seem to match the original amount plus the tip, which was confusing.
Additionally, there was an issue with my card not initially going through because I had forgotten to unlock it. What I assume was the manager — she was the only one wearing a brown shirt — made a comment that she gets charged $0.03 every time a card doesn’t pass. I asked for clarification, and she repeated the statement in a dismissive tone. I told her she could simply charge me the $0.03, but her attitude came across as unprofessional and disrespectful.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and I do not plan on returning.
