Now to the food. The ravioli compared unfavorably to average frozen ravioli from the freezer section at the market, both in taste and in texture. Really, really bad. The Pasta Carbonara was unrecognizable as such both in appearance and taste. Very bland and completely uninteresting to the point of preferring to eat breadsticks to finish the meal. The Veal Saltimboca was inedible. Gamey meat with the texture of rare calf liver and the taste faintly reminiscent of diesel oil. Definitely did not make much headway with that dish.
Anyway if you enjoy Italian food (or any food for that matter) this is the last restaurant you want to patronize. Yes – it is Egypt – but good Italian food is to be found almost everywhere in the world. No excuse for this. Now, off to find some food. After $100 USD I’m still hungry!!!
When looking for the restaurant we had a heck of a time finding it. When you get to the grand staircase it’s in through the restaurant on the left. It’s a hidden gem in the back rooms of the hotel.
We didn’t have a reservation but it was late and we were the only ones eating.
Our server greeted us right away and got our orders going.
The drinks were good, the food was good and the service was good. Really well made Italian food in Egypt.
If you’re staying at the hotel or you’re nearby, give them a try.
Definitely recommend eating here. Was a nice atmosphere in the evening with the lights and music for entertainment.
