I love pepper lunch and was so excited to find out there’s one in Utah! It’s tucked inside a little food court in the plaza looking at the park which I missed the first time because I thought it’d be a restaurant. We ordered the beef pepper rice and a pasta with chicken and mushroom! You order from the kiosk, but have the option to order through the staff. They were fairly quick with the food and the meal was delicious with a nice view!

Pepper Lunch was on my list of restaurants to try during a trip to Tokyo this past April, but I unfortunately wasn’t able to. Imagine my surprise when I found out that one had opened right here in Riverton!
The food is absolutely fantastic, and appears very fresh. It’s served sizzling hot right on your own personal heated platter, guaranteeing your meal won’t go cold. I ordered a Jumbo Beef with a fountain drink, and paid around $22. For the quality, taste, and freshness of the food, I thought this was an exceptional value.
Don’t forget to ask for a loyalty punch card! For every 8 meals purchased (technically 7, since one spot is already pre-filled) you’ll get a free meal.
Pepper Lunch absolutely lived up to the hype from when I was researching my original Japan trip, and I’ll be frequently coming back. Please open up some more Utah locations!

Positive Review:
I had a fantastic experience at Pepper Lunch! The self-order kiosk made ordering a breeze, and I was blown away when my sizzling chicken teriyaki arrived in just three minutes on a hot cast iron plate. It was such a fun, interactive experience to cook the food right at the table! The dish was packed with flavor, and the fresh vegetables added a delightful crunch. True to its name, Pepper Lunch brought the heat with its signature peppery kick—though a slightly lighter touch would’ve been perfect for my taste. The service was prompt, friendly, and attentive, making the meal even more enjoyable. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to savor that sizzling goodness again!

We came here on a Monday afternoon because I heard they finally opened a pepper lunch here in Utah and pepper lunch is very common in Asia. It wasn’t busy at all when we came. You order at a kiosk and they bring you your meal when it is ready. I ordered the hamburger and steak sizzling curry and I enjoyed it. It comes on a sizzling plate and it is sort of like your own teppanyaki meal because you cook the meat yourself. I think the curry sauce ties the meal together. The hamburg was kind of dense and it really need the curry sauce in my opinion. If it’s your first time coming here, I would definitely recommend their beef pepper rice and add a little bit of the garlic soy sauce as that is what they are known for. I would definitely come back again but I wish they had a branch closer to Salt Lake City. Overall great experience

I wanted to love this so bad, but I don’t think that it’s for me. Though the service is kind and quick, the food overall lacks a lot of depth. The pepper ironically overpowers everything else in the bowl, and the price for a single bowl is outrageous. Having to pay an extra $2 for every topping is insane, especially given the fact that you don’t even get that much.
The teriyaki bowl was good, but I expect a lot more for the price you pay. Kudos to the kitchen for getting the food out so quickly.

If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly spot to eat in Utah, Pepper Lunch is definitely worth checking out!
My wife is from Japan, and I’ve been there multiple times, so I know good Japanese food when I taste it—and this place is the real deal. It brings a unique DIY dining experience where you get to cook your own food on a sizzling hot plate, just like they do in Japan. It’s also super fun for kids since they get to watch (or even help) their meal sizzle right at the table!
The beef pepper rice is a must-try—the way the butter and sauce mix into the rice while it sizzles is chef’s kiss! They also have great steak, chicken, and curry options if you want to switch things up.
The best part? You control how everything is cooked, so it’s always fresh and exactly how you like it. Plus, the portions are solid, and the flavors are on point.
If you love interactive meals, bold flavors, and a fun dining experience for the whole family, Pepper Lunch is a great spot to try!

We came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. You order at the kiosk and the workers bring it out to you. We got the beef and chicken combo, and the jumbo (?) beef with two drinks. It came out to be about $47. I wish they had kids meals – maybe they do and I just missed it. It was definitely peppery lol. I liked the teriyaki sauce with it. We would definitely come back! Also, this is no fault of Pepper Lunch or any other restaurant there, but seating in the food court is better accommodating to parties of two. I wouldn’t go with a large group unless it’s the middle of a weekday and you can move tables/chairs around.

I visited Pepper Lunch years ago in Hong Kong and was so excited they opened a spot in Utah. Was just as good as I remember it! I’d recommend getting the Jumbo Beef Pepper Rice. If you like kimchi, it can be spicy but it’s still really good. Service is fast and they’re more than happy to provide ordering recommendations.
