Faro grill is a magical spot. Amazing views of the bay, from every angle. You can get a boat from la cruz for the full experience, or enter via the resort (kovay gardens) that is above it. They will have your reservation at the front gate, just tip your golf buggy driver. All a part of the experience, boat access or golf kart. A bit of fun.
I’ve visited maybe 4 or 5 times, every time a slightly different experience. Service can be a little hit and miss, so can the food, but i would definitely still visit.
Sometimes the ceviche is glorious, fresh and paired perfectly with delicious flavours. The last time, I was quite disappointed in both freshness and flavours.
The ribs are quite good.
Fish of the day, like most of the bay is typically mahi mahi. It was kind of bland when I last had it and the only accompaniment was 3 slices of capsicum (red peppers) and a smoosh of hommus. Previously it had more flavour and much better sides.
The pulpo (octopus) has been good every time.
The duck tacos while a tad dry were still delicious. The rib eyes tacos were amazing, very tender and juicy steak and a generous amount. The salsas were interesting and full of flavour, delicious
I’m yet to try their pizzas, the toppings look good, but the bases are kind of pre fabricated.
The drinks are some of the most expensive in the bay, but they have a great range.
Staff are very friendly/welcoming. Just a little slow and don’t pay much attention unless it is to take your original order.
Seating is comfortable. They’re kid friendly and the restaurant is pretty child friendly, for being on the water on every side.
Whilst more for the experience than the food, I’d still visit if I was in town on holiday, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, just not blown away.
Definitely book, as groups tend to frequent who’ve booked, which leaves a lot of their seating reserved.

Beautiful location with a beautiful view of the bay of Banderas. If you want to come here from La Cruz, go to the fish market to take the faro grill water taxi! We ordered the pizza and pinada drink and it was alright. Definitely the view and the architecture of this restaurant was outstanding. Bring cash as this is a cash only establishment

Food here was great! We took the boat to the restaurant from La Cruz and loved the views. The scenery around the restaurant was fabulous. The sunset looked amazing from where we were sitting. Franklin, our server was very nice and accommodating. The food was fantastic and we all enjoyed it.

The restaurant is perfect for a fancy, expensive ocean view experience, however… ours was extremely disappointing . Only 2 servers were working the entire restaurant, which was full. Once our order was taken, we never saw our server again. Our water was never refilled, nor did anyone ask to provide a second cocktail to my husband. Our food took over an hour to come, and the salmon pasta dish was served cold, as was my surf and turf. my “medium” steak was “more than well-done” and so tough that most of it was left on my plate. BTW it consists of 2 shrimp, a small piece of steak, and 3 paper thin zucchini strips, no rice, potato or pasta…No server came to ask if they could provide any condiments, or how our meal was. I saw another diner ask where his food order was after seeing ours come ( i watched him order before us). The service was extremely poor for a top rated restaurant . Staff had to be asked 3 times before bringing our bill. We so looked forward to coming here , and we paid over $1500 pesos for this?? As the saying goes “if you don’t expect anything, you will never be disappointed” We won’t be back!!

For our final night in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, we dined out at the Faro Grill. It was New Year’s Day and they were short wait staff, but still went above and beyond to make our evening special. We had the beet salad and grilled vegetables for appetizers, and prime rib steak with mashed potato for our main course. The food was flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the location was unique!

View is spectacular however food is terrible. The pizza tasted frozen. And the chicken dish was so tough you couldn’t even cut it. One of the more expensive meals we have had in this area but terrible food. Would not recommend unfortunately.

Unique restaurant on a man made island/lighthouse with beautiful surrounding. The food was all good but nothing out of this World. Service was also excellent. However, it was advertised as strictly no kids and no exceptions. Well there were a family with 2 kids, one about 2 years old was just making a mess out of our evening.

During our recent stay in Mexico we had visited Faro Grill restaurant on couple occasions. It is a romantic ❤️ spot with great food, excellent service and very nice setup. It gas a boat ️ ramp for those who would like to get there over water. Otherwise a golf cart service is available from the concierge office at the Kovay Gardens resort. We enjoyed the seafood and house special pizza there. They have a good selection of wines and other adult drinks
Our server Franklin delivered perfect nonintrusive service.
We would recommend that place to anyone visiting that area.
