We had a great experience with brunch on a Sunday.

Our waitress was friendly and prompt, the food was delicious and unique, the coffee was hot and well prepared.

The ambiance is bright but not too bright, the lights were dimmed a little which keeps the white and gold decor from being overwhelming. Lots of natural light from the windows.

Bathrooms were clean and well maintained, nice decor there too.

Food came out quick (it wasn’t busy at all at 2pm on a Sunday so that wasn’t a surprise).

I had the egg sandwich which was fantastic. My wife had the avocado mango waffle, she loved it.

Portions are reasonable but small for American dining so don’t expect to get stuffed. You are paying for the unique flavors and unusual selections.

We paid about $60 for two people, we both got fancy coffees, entrees and desserts.

The mochi donuts were downright delicious. Don’t forget to try those!

We needed to kill some time and stopped by here since it looked cool. What a pleasant surprise! Really cool atmosphere—you can tell they put a lot of thought into the design. We only had drinks, which were amazing, but I’ll be back for the food. The menu looked great. Definitely recommend this place if you want a coffee, a cool cocktail, and a nice bite to eat.

Okay super cool places, the food was good and service nice. $99 for 3 very small meals (that didn’t even have a side) with 3 small alcohol beverages is way to costly for my budget.

*Update: Second time trying this place, the food was amazing. I was actually impressed. We went there for brunch and had an Onsen Egg Bowl, Egg Sando, & a Matcha waffle for the starter. The egg bowl was absolutely delicious; all of it was actually. They have these pandan mimosas that are addictive & I’m not even a true mimosa- girl. The black sesame mini donut is very satisfying.

The staff was much friendlier this time. They are still a little stuck up but much more approachable than last time. I would never come here and sit at the bar. It was actually empty most of the time we were there. They don’t have true bartenders so it would be hard to make the bar into an inviting place to sit. The cocktail prices went down a couple bucks I believe so that is an improvement. It’s still hard to justify ordering a cocktail on tap for that price. It would be like paying premium prices for a microwaved meal to me.

I do wish the music wasn’t so loud. Pollen allergies have my voice strained already. The DJ was great but I got tired of shouting & saying “what” often.

They have definitely improved the service since last time we were there. Previous below for reference.

This place definitely has potential, even if it does feel a little too L.A-esque. The food we order was surprisingly delicious: ube waffle sandwich & one other small sandwich (katsu something or other). Those were great.

My only two complaints are that none of the $16-$18 cocktails on the menu are made fresh. They are on tap. Because of this, they all taste flat like punch. The flavors are pretty good though. I would probably $10 for a cocktail on tap. If you are going to have the most expensive cocktails in the city as this place does, they need to be made fresh, shaken or stirred.

My other complaint is that the service is disinterested. We tried to be friendly and nobody really wanted to engage. It was very unwelcoming.

Didn’t see this lounge with its sparkly mod and minimalist decor, before being invited to join a group of friends here for a night of drinks and Japanese inspired tapas (Japas as they call it here). Interesting new flavors to snack on served as small plates. Comfortable environment to sit and talk a while.

Nitro Tales can be a bit misleading from the outside. I have personally walked past the place many times when in Providence, and thought it was basically a coffee bar. A GF suggested we go over there for dinner, and I was surprised to see they have a notable food menu, offering what they referred to as “Japas,” for Japanese tapas. Another interesting aspect is that what at first appeared to me to be a wall-mounted rack of beer taps is actually a dispenser for multiple different types of pre-mixed cocktails, which was an interesting concept!

We tried a few different cocktails, to include their take on an Aperol Spritz (“Alkamist”), an Asian inspired margarita (the “Hana Rita”), and the “Chai Curious,” which gave me a pleasant Indian vibes. If you can’t decide what you want as a full-sized libation, they have an option to get a flight of cocktails, where you get three smaller versions so that you can calibrate what you like. Pretty cool.

As to the food, as the term Japas implies, there is a distinct Japanese focus, while a number of other dishes are Asian influenced. We ordered a couple to start, beginning with the edamame hummus, which had a nice flavor and texture, served with rice crackers to scoop up the mixture. Next up was the “grilled cheese sando,” which was basically a grilled cheese sandwich made with a chocolate waffle and presented with a blueberry compote on the side. This came out as too sweet for me, even sans the blueberry jam, largely owing to the moderately sweet chocolate waffle which formed the bread. Creative, for sure, but to me really more of a breakfast or brunch concept than part of a dinner. Maybe a more assertive cheese like a Gruyère or aged gouda would give a bit of contrast, as opposed to the very mild cheese teaming up with the chocolate waffle to make something which was unexpectedly sweet? Finally, we got two of their hand-held Onigirazu; one each in crab and shrimp varieties. We both liked the shrimp a bit more because it seemed more flavorful. The crab version was still tasty though. I think both would have benefited from a small side of homemade Ponzu sauce that would have offered a little bit of zing to compliment the umami of the Onigirazu, or maybe a mild kimchi slaw on the side?

I noticed as we left they had a sandwich board sign in front announcing a happy hour and other specials. I believe they have only been open since November 2024, so they are likely still trying to find an audience, but this place is worth checking out, if for no other reason than they are daring to try something different, with pretty tasty options. On my next trip I am going to try one or two other food offerings and cocktails.

Our server told me they also had a regular bar in the event you want more conventional drink, which is good to know if you are less adventurous with your cocktails.

The cafe drinks are consistently delicious. I always get their matcha lattes. They add different flavors, and so far the hibiscus and ube flavors were my favorite.

The food is also consistently delicious. Full of great flavors with a unique, delicious twist.

I had the best experience at Nitro Tales! I ordered the Shibuya Sunset and it was everything I didn’t know I needed—refreshing, citrusy, and perfectly balanced with a gorgeous dried lemon garnish that made it feel like a little piece of art in a glass. The vibe inside is sleek and modern, and the staff made the experience feel upscale yet welcoming.

To top it off, I indulged in their chocolate mochi ice cream, and WOW—smooth, rich, and absolutely heavenly. The mochi had the perfect chew, and the chocolate filling melted in my mouth. It was the ideal sweet treat after my drink.

Highly recommend Nitro Tales if you’re looking for a unique, elevated spot to relax, sip, and treat yourself. I’ll definitely be back to try more!

I drive past this place every day and finally decided to stop in. The space looks great and the concept is cool — but that’s about the only good thing I can say.

From the second my friend and I walked in, the service was cold and unwelcoming. We asked for drink recommendations since it was our first time, and the server couldn’t have cared less. She gave vague answers and acted like we were bothering her. I ordered their version of a lemon drop, and my friend got a mocktail. The mocktail menu was tiny, which was disappointing.

The drinks looked nice but were completely watered down. Definitely not worth $14 for a small cocktail or $8 for a mocktail. Overpriced and underwhelming.

Things went downhill from there. The server got more and more unpleasant as time went on. When she saw I finished my drink, she came over with attitude and basically snapped, “Do you want another one?” I said no and asked for the check because at that point we just wanted to leave.

Then came the worst part — I paid with cash, and she told me, “We don’t give change.” Excuse me? That’s ridiculous. There’s no sign, no notice, nothing. I paid with a $20 — but what if I had used a $100? Are they just pocketing the difference? That’s not a “policy,” that’s theft.

After taking my cash, she looked annoyed and said, “Oh well thanks, I guess,” like I’d done something wrong. She essentially took a 30% tip and still acted rude about it.

Between the bad service, weak drinks, and shady “no change” policy, I won’t be back. There are too many great spots in town to waste money here.
