I’ve explored a little bit of the vegan food scene in LA and happy to say this is a great addition.
There are two separate entrances which is a bit confusing but we were eventually sat in the outdoor area.
They’re a tea house with a wide selection of choices. We tried the milky oolong which was excellent. We could’ve seeped it longer for a richer taste.
Food wise, I don’t think we got one bad dish.
Smashed cucumber 5/5 – not your typical take on this dish, heavy on the cilantro which I love and came with carrots, great level of spice
Dumplings 4.5/5 – couldn’t tell these were vegan
Baby carrots 4/5 – probably the most interesting dish, tasted more like a dessert, baby carrots covered in a sweet sesame/mochi covering
Biang Biang noodles 5/5 – love this dish and great spice without being too oily
Sweet & Sour mushrooms 4.5/5 – deliciously crunchy, great flavor, only complaint is you almost get more batter than mushroom
Bao beignets 4.5/5 – can’t go wrong with beignets and their sesame dip is divine, just wish it came with more
All in all, a great surprise. Staff is friendly and they also have a great selection of beer.
We ordered Rangoon, buns, and dumplings to start. For dinner we ordered the whole wok section
The monkey buns, biang noodles, and sweet sour mushrooms were very good. The mushrooms could have used a little more sauce but they were very airy and delicious
The truffled fried rice had no truffles (unless they were tiny) and just tasted like truffle oil which was sad for what they charge. Tofu was bland, the green beans inside were more flavorful. The green bean dish left an awful taste in my mouth until the next day and I’m assuming it was the “pork”. I would suggest taking out the “pork” from that dish. It was one of the main reasons for my rating.
Overall, the food was definitely very underwhelming. The service was very good and the interior was very nice but unfortunately the food didn’t live up to its hype with all the influencer videos and reviews
The tea service was such a highlight. It felt really authentic, complete with a little hourglass timer so you know exactly how long to steep the tea. It’s such a thoughtful touch and made the whole experience feel special.
The entire menu is vegan, and honestly you would never feel like you’re missing anything. The dim sum is absolutely outstanding. We ordered a bunch of different dishes so we could try as much as possible, and every single thing that came to the table was incredible.
The standout stars of the night were the Monkey Buns, the Cheddar Rangoon, and the homemade ice cream. I’m still thinking about them.
If you love dim sum, tea service, or just trying creative vegan food, this place is a must. We’ll definitely be back.
Sipped on a delightful tea.
The cucumber salad was our favorite but everything was so delicious. Thought the truffle fried rice was a little dry to me a sauce might balance it. They have quirky homade ice cream flavors similar to Salt and Straw if you’re into that.
Staff was nice and attentive! Great service.
It’s a bit of a different layout with a nice outdoor space as the main dining area, tables for a variety of party sizes. There’s an indoor bar/tea lounge separated by the kitchen. You have to go out and around to get to. Not a complaint, just an FYI
Parking is what you’d expect for this area. Some meters and street parking around. I’d give yourself some extra time to find a spot especially at peak hours.
We’ll definitely be coming back 🙂
we loved the dim sum items, but the tofu wasn’t our favorite.. just our flavor preference.
we liked the beignets by themselves, as the Chinese five spice and sesame sauce was quite powerful.. nice on its own, but preferred the two flavors separately.
the souffle pancakes were really tasty — you should expect more of a bread pudding consistency, rather than a light fluffy pancake. the lemon and blueberry flavors come out well, and it melts away in your mouth.
