The soup is out of this world. I like the spicy chicken soup. The small is plenty. Do yourself a favor and order the large for leftovers! It’s typical taco stand atmosphere.

We just moved to North County and have been on the hunt for a good Mexican spot. My partner is from El Paso, so finding authentic Mexican food in Oceanside was one of our first priorities and Jorge’s Mexicatessen is it. The owners are SO friendly and welcoming, and it really feels like a staple in the community.
They’re known for their chicken soup, and it absolutely lives up to the hype. My partner is obsessed with the Huevos a la Mexicana plate, and I’m all about the crispy tacos, seriously some of the best in North County. It’s the kind of Oceanside Mexican restaurant that feels local, cozy, and consistently delicious.

I ordered menudo and fish tacos. I can count the flimsy pieces of menudo in this large order. Practically there was none and waited awhile for the Togo order. Literally. Nothing. It’s all soup ? Not sure what this is ?? It’s disappointing when you pay $30 for a meal and you get this.

Very good breakfast burrito, only $10.20.
I liked the fresh potatoes (not the usual frozen stuff) and tasty white chopped onion. The salsa was very spicy, glad I had it on the side.
Very good counter service, the store could use a little freshening up.

I was a bit skeptical coming in because i’m a vegetarian and sometimes Mexican places may not have enough for me…. But Jose was so so sweet, I decided to stay… And we were able to figure Out something good for me and I were so pleased. I got a bean and rice tostada… I also got some of their yummy cabbage on the side, And to top it all off was there salsa which made it a,perfect hit! If they take care of me like that always I’ll be a regular!

Ordered the Menudo. But there was no menudo to be found. Tons of soup and no meat ? Not sure what was in there. Had to dispose the large order or soup. Disappointing.
