We had an excellent experience at Tamalex Bar & Grill! They were able to easily host a group party for us, which made everything seamless from start to finish. The food was delicious, the service was attentive and friendly, and Alejandro behind the bar makes a mean margarita —don’t miss it. Such a great neighborhood spot with a relaxed vibe and consistently great hospitality. Definitely check this place out. Five stars all around!

Food is good and service is friendly but the place seems like it’s struggling. Dirty silverware wrapped in the rolls, very chipped plates, brownish guacamole. Just looks like no ones putting any care into it. Luckily the server was attentive and remedied some of the cons but it’s hard to love this place.

I recently visited this place, and overall the experience was good. The service was excellent — the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was decent as well, though I felt it could have been a bit more flavorful.
One thing that stood out was the size of the tables for two; they felt very small and a bit inconvenient. Additionally, the restaurant had a rather strong, very specific smell that was a little distracting.
Despite these minor issues, it was still a pleasant visit. Rating: 4-/5.

This place is top notch for so many reasons! It was 11:15pm, we had a party of 14 and we stumbled into this place and had an awesome experience! I think they close at Noon but they stayed open beyond 1am for us. The food was delicious, servers were attentive and the inside was decorated for Halloween in a way you have to see for yourself. The place is a vibe and the specials hit which is always the sign of a place I will comeback to!

Staff was very nice and attentive, the food was very good and spicy (at least for a white person), the tortilla chips were fresh and crisp, the complimentary salsa and verde was fresh. The dinner was amazing and filling. Will visit again when I get a chance.

Where do I even begin? Amazing service, delicious food and drinks. Incredible family owned establishment with top notch dishes. Chef Omar is my favorite, his finesse and attention to detail are second to none. I grew up in Southern California, and have traveled to Mexico many times. This is among the best food from that region I’ve ever tasted. 10/10.

I took two of my staff for a walk around south st. And we stumbled upon this restaurant. Everyone was so nice. The food was amazing! And it is so cute inside. We got the margaritas and they were just fantastic. I highly recommend this spot!

This place has a beautiful bar with incredible mezcals from Mexico’s finest producers. The staff esp Alejandro are wonderfully knowledgeable about the different types of mezcals. Unbelievable. What a find! Food is also first rate. Luckily I live 2 blocks away.

I don’t know how this place has 4.9 stars. My wife and I got there before any rush of customers. There were only two customers when we arrived. When our food came to the table our waiter brought my wife the wrong food. He took it back to the kitchen. So I ate my meal while my wife waited for hers. My meal wasn’t really even hot. The carnitas in my burrito was fatty and chewy. When my wife’s chicken fajitas finally came it was mostly peppers with just a little bit of chicken. Nothing on the side but a little guacamole and some rice. No lime. No anything. Nothing we ate was very good. After waiting to long for the bill, we finally just walked to the front counter to pay. The hostess had to go find out waiter for him to bring the bill. They don’t even give you complementary chips and salsa.
