A bare bones establishment with delicious Honduran dishes in store. You’ll find this restaurant almost hidden on the far east side of Collierville in a simple strip mall.
The server, Reina, was very sweet We enjoyed a variety of pupusas (which are like bread pockets filled with cheese, pork or veggies), sweet plantains (maduros), and carne a la planca and babyyy the flavor was tasty!
We also tried the mango juice which is fresh squeezed. Highly recommend!

Our family came here for a birthday celebration almost a month ago, and we really enjoyed our experience! The staff was very thoughtful and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our time there. The food was delicious, and we highly recommend the pupusas! Inside the restaurant, it is like eating at an actual restaurant in Honduras, so the atmosphere fits the authentic food. Would come here again!

My family and I love this place – the food is so freshly prepared to order with fresh ingredients. Everyone I’ve introduced to this restaurant has said they can feel the love put into the food. There is nothing mass produced. The husband and wife who own the restaurant are delightful people who love what they do and appreciate their customers. I’ve tried many menu items, but the ones I always return to are the carne or pollo platters (comes with beans, rice, egg any way – I get mine scrambled with onions / peppers / jalapeños – sliced avocado, salad, and handmade tortillas!). The tortillas aren’t like what you normally eat in a Mexican restaurant. They are soft, fluffy, and thick! The sweet plantain for dessert is so delicious – she takes her time and cooks it slow, and it’s soft but chewy with a hint of sweetness. Please try this place!

Undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in the eastern Memphis area. I’ve been twice now and will undoubtedly return many more times. Delicious food, it’s incredibly apparent the staff and owners care about their customers, and I even learned a little Spanish. Highly recommend them!
Recommendation: #29 (seen in picture)

If you’re looking for a different food option outside the usual Mexican and chicken place make sure you try this new and authentic Central American cuisine in Collierville, Restaurant Mar y Tierra, an absolute gem! The food is fresh, high-quality, and bursting with flavor. We had the pleasure of trying several dishes, and every single one was amazing.
The pupusas, a Salvadoran specialty, are thick, handmade corn tortillas stuffed with delicious fillings like cheese, beans, and meat. They were absolutely perfect—crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. They come with a side of tangy cabbage slaw (curtido) and flavorful salsa, which complement the pupusas perfectly and add an extra layer of authenticity.
We also tried the shrimp and steak fried tacos, made fresh with homemade tortillas. The freshness of the ingredients really shines through in every bite and the serving sizes are great.
For an appetizer, we ordered the guacamole, which was huge, super fresh, and served in a traditional pilón (mortar) alongside warm, freshly fried chips. It’s the best guacamole we’ve had in a long time!
The pork chop with onions was another highlight—juicy, flavorful, and served with rice and beans infused with authentic Honduran and Salvadoran flavors. The seasoning and preparation transported us straight to Central America.
This place is new, so it’s important to support them! It’s a fantastic addition to Collierville’s dining scene, offering a variety of authentic Central American flavors beyond the usual Mexican restaurants and chicken places. If you’re looking for new food options, give this new restaurant a try—you won’t regret it!
Mar y Tierra is conveniently located in the shopping center off Highway 72 and Center Street, just two establishments away from the liquor store.
Everything is made from scratch, and you can truly taste the love and care in every bite. The owners are incredibly friendly and often prepare the dishes themselves. Highly recommended!

First time visiting, but we will be going again soon. I’m not real familiar with Central American food but I do visit and love the food of Puerto Rico, this is similar. We had the guacamole, grilled steak, and fried pork chunks all were served quickly and at the right temperature. The service was great – they were immediately attentive. Lighting could be adjusted, maybe dimmed a little and there was initially no music but they were working on it.
Great food, great service, can’t wait to go again!

The first time I have ever been to this little restaurant and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. The owner met with us at the table and explained his menu and how everything is made from scratch. They brought a lot of different things to try that were absolutely delicious! Our food came and more than what we expected and it was also delicious. I would recommend everyone to give this restaurant a try. He definitely puts care and love into everything he does!
