Honestly my new favorite place in town. For the price and quality this is the best bang for your buck you can find. Really small but cozy environment, felt like eating at home. Friendly staff. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

Great appetizers! Now I need to try other dishes. It always smells so good when I pick up my order. I’ve been there 3 times in 2 weeks…working on my fourth visit

I was greeted while walking in the door. I ordered the passion fruit buba tea with the strawberry popping bubbles. The tea was sweet and tastes great. I then ordered the Calamari app which was pretty good just didn’t have a lot of seasoning. For our entree I ordered chicken and calamari lo mein platter and the portions are beyond generous. Also ordered two rolls the fiesta roll and the rock n roll. The sushi was extremely fresh. The staff checked to make sure everything was correct, the food came out fresh and hot. If you’re looking for good food, large and friendly staff this is the place.

Fantastic food! Great prices and so many options. We ordered sushi, fried rice, hibachi and Boba drinks. Every single person loved what they ordered! It was a hit all around.
We cannot wait to go back and try the ramen.
There’s an extensive menu which all sounds wonderful!

I recently ordered from Pusaka Japanese Express in Fairview Heights, IL, after seeing their impressive 4.8-star rating on Google with 28 reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was a complete disappointment, and I feel compelled to share it.

Firstly, none of the items I ordered matched their descriptions on the menu, whether on DoorDash or their website. Here’s the breakdown:

Hibachi Steak: The menu promised grilled steak with mixed vegetables. What I received was steak with an overwhelming amount of onions and just two lonely pieces of broccoli—far from “mixed vegetables.”

Fried Rice: It was completely inedible. The rice was mushy, and an odd flavor-lacking the distinct taste you expect from hibachi fried rice.

Add Beef Ramen: The description said it would come with noodles in beef broth, but what I received was simply sliced beef with no broth whatsoever—nothing resembling ramen.

Deep-Fried California Roll: This was the worst offender. Instead of a crispy, freshly fried roll, it was soggy and drenched in a mysterious, unlisted sauce that ruined the entire dish. The sauce was so overwhelming that it made the sushi impossible to eat.

Every single item in my order was a letdown. The descriptions were completely inaccurate, and the quality of the food was abysmal. I was excited to try this new restaurant, but this experience has left me not only disappointed but also feeling like I wasted my money.

I cannot recommend this place to anyone based on the food I received. It’s clear they need to drastically improve both their menu accuracy and food preparation standards.

The service was good and they were willing to tell us the difference between the noodles they have for food. Once we got home, the food was still hot and everyone was satisfied with their food. My plate, unfortunately, had hair in it. Thankfully, I don’t “trip” too much because broccoli can sometimes have “strings” on them if they are not properly clean. Nevertheless, it threw me off a bit, but the food was good.

Overall, I thought some of the cook on the food had some inconsistencies: For me the fried rice was cooked, but there were some that were a little undone, their noodles were good to me, but to one of my family members the noodles may have been too starchy and then some of the shrimp and chicken were overcooked and became chewy. (Still edible, but again; inconsistency).

Overall, I am willing to go back to try again to try more food items.

Group lunch with co-workers we saw this place had recently opened and decided to try it out.

I had Chicken katsu donburi – substituted the white rice with fried rice.
Co-workers had a Chicken Yakisoba and a Chicken Lo Mein.

Drinks: Lychee fruit Tea, Purple Taro Milk Tea, Sweet Ice Tea.

The location is small, cozy – just right for a small group of 4 or less – not really meant for a large crowd. I forgot to take a picture of my dish, unfortunately…

Co-workers food smelled and looked great. No one had a complaint on their orders.

My donburi with the fried rice, was very good. The chicken cutlet was flavored with a topping of Bang Bang sauce. A subtle flavorful kick, but nothing that will make you cry.
The mixed vegetables was done just right. Broccoli in my mix was just cooked and not mushy.
The fried rice was plentiful more than enough for a second meal.
Also you get an extra cup of bang bang sauce.
The Lychee fruit tea included some lychee popping boba too – and it was very sweet.

Overall – generous portions, good flavor, good service. Stop by and give this place a sit in or a to go try for sure!

They messed up my first order. Drove back and they messed it up again!!! Guess the other pieces didn’t deserve avocado on top of it…. They also didn’t put the spicy crab on top of my other pieces..

We tried Pusaka for the first time today. I couldn’t order much because of a language barrier, so I opted not to order any food, but my family ordered theirs and enjoyed it a lot and we will be back! I used google translate to ask about gluten free options.
We ordered ramen, with marinated beef, calamari and two HATA brand sodas.

Oily, made my stomach hurt from all the oil. The spring rolls, and chicken teriyaki just tasted like oil. Opted for fried rice and it had 2 peas in it and like the dry speckles of some egg, so little it was barely identifiable. Besides feeling off from all the oil the meal overall wasn’t filling – I’m a small person I don’t need huge portions.
