We came up for a wedding in Carlsbad. We were looking for a quick bite and stumbled upon this restaurant. There was no wait so we’re seated immediately. Server was attentive. Menu was modest and had some variety. We felt the food was authentic and very similar to the food we had in Thailand. The papaya salad (Laos style) was easily a favorite, but some may not enjoy the taste and fragrances so inquiry before ordering. Add in sticky rice and fried pork belly and you complete the dish. The Pad Thai was good, with a little squeezed lemon, the dish was both sweet and savory. The chicken satay dish (with peanut sauce) was cooked just right so it wasn’t too dry. Can’t go wrong with Thai tea and sticky rice with Mango. So good, we came back for dinner with the whole family of 15. They enjoyed it just as much.

As per the recommendations of many people, I decided to give CHIIM THAI KITCHEN a try.
It’s a small family-owned Thai restaurant that is a hole-in-the-wall in a plaza.
They are located on Mission Ave & El Camino Real in the inland region of Oceanside California.
I ordered their BASIL CHICKEN FRIED RICE and it was a great portion size and had spectacular flavor!
I highly recommend that you customize the spice heat level on it if you’re sensitive to heat.
They have great control over the heat levels too.
Service was fast, friendly and attentive.
They aren’t typically too crowded inside and that’s a good thing, because the interior is VERY small.
I think there’s enough seating for 20 people max.
But this leads to a very personalized experience; you will never be neglected.
Their parking lot is shared with the shopping center and there’s typically spots available facing the street.
Overall, I love their mango sticky rice dessert & their fried bananas with coconut icecream for dessert too.
I highly recommend checking out Chiim Thai Kitchen!

Papaya salad was one of the best ones we’ve had (spicier than expected!). Highly recommend getting the crispy pork belly with it. Pad siew was cooked and seasoned perfectly with a delicious slight char flavor. Mango sticky rice was a great dessert and cooked fresh. Mango itself probably could be better depending on the season. Excellent service.

So fresh and delicious! Very small place and AMAZING FOOD! Braised beef panang with potatoes and holy chicken with basil stir fry. Comes with jasmine rice. We even ordered fried rice to go. Good sized portions. Spice level 0-5 and they got it right! Can’t wait to come back.

I recently discovered a hidden gem for authentic Thai food, and I’m excited to share it with anyone who loves real Thai flavors. Living in Fallbrook, we don’t have many great Asian restaurant options nearby, so I was browsing Yelp to see if anything new had opened around the area. That’s when I came across a new spot in Oceanside called CHIIM Thai—about a 25-minute drive, the same distance as going to Temecula.
After reading a few reviews and checking out the photos, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Gra Pao (chicken and a fried egg on top), I must say, it instantly reminded me of the street-food style dishes I enjoyed during my travels in Thailand. The flavor was bold, authentic, and truly satisfying.
The restaurant itself is small, but it’s clean, simple, and modern. The waiter was very welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. Overall, the service and food both exceeded my expectations.
I’ll definitely be going back to try more dishes on their menu.
If you’re crazy about authentic Thai food—or just love discovering great Asian cuisine—you have to try CHIIM Thai. This is the kind of place that makes the drive absolutely worth it.

So here’s the thing… I used to go to the Thai spot that was here before, and I adored the sweet grandma + grandson duo that ran it. Their food was always so comforting. But wow… Chim Thai really stepped in with something wonderful of their own. The food was outstanding, the drunken noodles, the curry, and oh my gosh, the fried banana ice cream were just so good. Next time I’m absolutely getting the mango sticky rice. The service wasn’t amazing -we had to ask for basics like water and silverware but honestly, the flavors made up for it. Everything tasted so fresh, and I love that they’ll actually give you that true Thai hot spice if you’re feeling bold.

We were recommended to try Chiim Thai from a friend who loves Thai food just as much as me. The portions and flavor was amazing. This authentic mom and pop hole in the wall delivers delicious high quality Thai dishes. Top pick in and around Oceanside.

Absolutely loved this place! The food is incredibly delicious and truly authentic Thai. I especially fell in love with the crispy pork it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The Som Tum Lao with crispy pork was hands down the highlight for me spicy, tangy, and so satisfying!
My little one couldn’t get enough of the sticky rice and chicken satay it’s now their favorite combo. And don’t even get me started on the Thai tea ice cream – smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Such a perfect way to end the meal!
The owner is super friendly and welcoming, and the service was top-notch. The restaurant itself has a cozy, inviting vibe that makes you want to stay and order everything on the menu. Highly recommend!

We spotted this restaurant while driving past it and wanted to try it since we love Thai food. Everything was so DELICIOUS! I am the biggest yellow curry fan and…this was amazing. And the pork belly on the noodles…YUMMY. We tried Thai tea ice cream for the first time, and it is now one of my top ice cream flavors ever. Lastly, the staff are so friendly here!! I definitely recommend. Support local businesses!!
