Italian bakery Emozioni opens in Soquel Village – Lookout Santa Cruz
Reviews
The food is levels beyond the rest of the competition. The sweets are truly stupendous. The savory bites of pizza are crafted with love and an artisan touch. The gelato transports you to cobblestone streets of Italy, and the espresso is exactly the way you want it. Pup cups also well reviewed.
Here are the highlights:
Special Naples Style Pizza. If a prosciutto pizza and the world’s flakiest most buttery delicious croissant had a baby, this is what you would get. The co-owner Michele shared this is the reason they became business partners due to both being from Naples, and this one of a kind pizza. My finger ensured that no crumb was left alone on the plate. You will never find another pizza anywhere except Naples or at Emozioni that has a pastry crust on top. Three extra slices got buckled safely into my ride.
Zucchini, potato, and Bechamel pizza slice. Hey mom, I am not eating my veggies, and I am loving every minute.
Their salami one has some good spiciness and the pizza was covered with salami.
Passionfruit Sorbetto tasted exactly like the lilikoi fruit that a farmer in Maui gave me from his tree.
Strawberry Sorbetto = As Barry White would say, “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love Babe.”
My wife loved her Chocolate and Coffee Gelato, and of course I had to do some qc and the gelato more than passed my incredibly high standards.
The pastries were completely insane as well, and they could have easily been talked about first: Chocolate Mousse Marvel, Cherry Mouse Jubilee (their attention to detail even laboriously took out the seeds), Kiwi Sensation Tart, and Lemon Heaven Tart. These are not the official names.
Michelemade our trip even more memorable with his genuine friendliness and how he treated us feel like family. Everyone I saw walking to the store looked so happy and left even happier.
Emozioni thank you for putting Soquel on the culinary map. You will become a food destination for locals and (inter)national visitors alike. We really appreciate the love, passion, and hard work of every member of your team, and this shows in you food and desserts.
Enzo has the herbs and MIc has the verbs…come over and meet them yourselves and taste their excellence.
Order any choice of focaccia and you cannot make a mistake.
I had the Strawberry Mousse Ball and it was the bomb for sure – sooo good – I wanted one for each hand.
Have a coffee and sit down and talk to them or to their friends.
And non dimenticare di portarne un po’ a casa con te!

Follow up to Chef Enzo’s reply: The conversation with both guys was actually very cordial, and not as described by him in the least (note that I had put 4* for service). I mentioned Italian as praise, and had no issue with his accent. About his inspiration, it would be much better if he stuck to true italian recipees. Anyhow, the 1* rating was about the food.
And that 1* may have been unfair, as the pastries may disappoint, but they are sort of ok, no better or worse than at many other places. Also, I forgot about the ricotta cheese cake, which is better than the tiramisu. So I changed from 1* to 3*.
There is a cozy patio if you want to eat there. Parking is easy in lot. Very friendly people.
