The interior is not very pleasing. This is not the kind of place you want to come to for a first date with someone you are trying to impress. Three or four tables with chairs in front of a counter that separates you from the cooking area is what you’ll see once you enter the place. The menu is large and contains all the standards. We decided to try the Eggplant and Chicken Parmesans. Even though we came for lunch, we wanted leftovers, so we ordered the dinner portions. Portions are very generous. At the end of the meal, as we were packing the leftovers, the owner told us that the entrée portions they serve are the same and that the only difference is that the dinner portions come with a side salad or soup addition.
Since we got the dinners, we did get the bread plate and side salads. The bread was super fresh. It was four or slices of white Italian bread in a plastic basket with some pats of butter. The salad was very ordinary. Lettuce, some tomato cubes, one black olive, some sliced onions, and cucumber chunks, with a small tub of your choice of dressing. It’s clear they make their own salads as the veggies were cut in different sizes between our two salads.
The two entrees arrived in due course. The high point for us was the clearly home-made Gnocchi that we ordered as a side with one of the meals. This was definitely made by hand! While I prefer my potato Gnocchi to be hefty and dense, these were in the lighter style and were very good. Unfortunately, the chicken and eggplant patties were just ordinary. The eggplant was not greasy, but it was covered in too much breading. The marinara sauce was not very flavorful. It had no chunks and reminded us of a basic tomato sauce – with no herbs added. We both reached for the Parmesan shaker to add some needed saltiness and flavor to our dishes. The broccoli side was a disappointment. It was frozen broccoli that was steamed.
Summing it all up, we see this as a typical and traditional old-style, red-sauce, American-Italian restaurant. The kind that used to be found all over in the 1950s and 1960s. If that’s what you are looking for, then this is a fine specimen of that type. They do have several homemade pastas and I would definitely go for those. I suppose it also depends on what you are looking for as far as atmosphere on whether you want to eat there, or get a takeout order. They do have a gazebo across the parking lot for al fresco eating, or a delivery service is an option as well.
Took my wife for her birthday dinner. The food was unbelievable! High quality REAL homemade food. Not any-many “mom & pop” places around anymore, Oasis puts local chain restaurants to shame. The staff was very friendly, service excellent . We WILL be eating there again! I would highly recommend for eat in or take out, there’s nowhere else out there this satisfying. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention portion size, huge portions.
UPDATE 6-5-25
1st time back ordering since Rebecca left.
6-5-25 1st time back eating here since owner-management change. While food tonight was decent, it didn’t appear to be the same recipes or portion size! We’ve ordered Oasis several dozen times, ALWAYS the same 2 dinners. Homemade gnocchi & chicken Alfredo. Both portions were noticeably smaller. The homemade gnocchi was NOT light & airy- rather dense & chewy like store bought. Alfredo sauce was good- not GREAT like it was. Also excessive olive oil taste in the chicken Alfredo.
