The Shack is one of those rare places that gets everything right. The food is unreal! Fresh, flavorful, and always made with care. Every bite tastes like it was cooked by someone who genuinely loves what they do.
What really sets The Shack apart is the service. These guys are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit. Being in a small town and serving as many people as they do, there can be a little wait, but the wait is well worth it!
This is the kind of food you go out of your way for and keep thinking about long after you’ve eaten. If you haven’t been yet, you’re seriously missing out. I highly recommend you eat here when visiting Lava!

Restaurant in front were too busy and an hour of wait list so we decided to stop here.
Price are good, big variety and it was tasty!
Labor day weekend, so they were out of pita and quesadilla with beef, but we were able to choose something else due to big variety.
You have to wait for long, but food is worth it.
And service is good, girls are polite and friendly.

A beautiful sunny Sunday night and we chose the shack before we went for a dip in the springs. Our order came out quick and we tucked in while enjoying the laid back vibe of the space and crispy freshness of what we were served. Fried green beans and the cheese curds were a highlight, the kids were super happy with the stacked fries and ham on Swiss sammie. Highly recommend a stop at the shack!

We had intentions to get breakfast at Lava Waffle (the business opposite The Shack) but they were closed.. and to be honest? We’re glad they were. The breakfast burritos, the French toast and bacon & hash browns we got were absolutely divine. The staff were incredibly fast, very efficient and tasted amazing. They have a cute little patio sitting area which feels tucked away in the mountains of Lava Hot Springs. It’s such a cute little place, 10000/10 recommend. This place will not disappoint, I promise you!
Of their sodas, I got the Hot Chick – Kiwi, Watermelon, Orange Sunkist & Mountain Dew and it was really good! Definitely check out their sodas whilst you’re there!

We were walking by and wanted to stop to participate. We had an ice cream and as soon as we sat down someone that worked at or owned the shack asked us to take our trash to the can of the place we got our ice cream from. It made me feel unwelcome and just made me want to leave.

Got a cheeseburger and said no pickles and no onions and got it with pickles and onions and when we told them the girl looked annoyed and a couple minutes later they called our name again. (Originally took like 20 min to get our food) they definitely had an old one or just scraped off the unwanted stuff because I still tasted pickle juice on the burger. Also random mushroom, food was ok not bad but since my burger wasn’t hardly warm (the bun was hot the burger was almost cold) it wasn’t the best. Definitely won’t be coming back.
Outside atmosphere is always nice but also that’s the only option.
Drinks came out fast at least.
Family’s food took forever but they had more but still other people came after and got their food before the rest of my family.

I agree with multiple other reviews. Food is marginal at best. We found a hair in our food and they were annoyed. They acted as if it was an inconvenience to them and tried to toss $5 to us. Then came back and tried to fix saying it wasn’t them. The entire transaction was odd

Pretty good! Burrito was good when paired with their salsa for the quesadilla. Otherwise it felt it was missing some good PLAVOR

We came here in the past few years and have always had a good experience with a good value for the food. The food this time was very mediocre, and that’s being nice. We know the cost of food has skyrocketed since 2020, but this seems a little out of proportion. I noticed that there is a for sale sign on The Shack. Hopefully some new owners can figure it out, because it is a fun spot for sure.
We ordered Beef Nachos, Kids Meal Hot Dog, Chicken Quesadilla, Chicken Tacos, 2 orders of fries. The fries, IMO, were the best thing this time. Their menu states that the breakfast is served all day; I was gonna order the breakfast burrito, she said that they were held over from breakfast, to which I declined to have a near 12 hour old burrito.

Our new favorite for coffee and breakfast! We will be checking out the hotdogs next time we are in town. Hearty breakfast burritos for a very reasonable price, good coffee and quick service. They say “all to go menu” but there are some benches and tables in a patio area if you want to sit and people/dog watch. We ate there 3 times in one weekend. Clean place, quick easy food to grab between Lava adventures.
