Mata Sushi is easily the best dining experiences in Mandeville. The fish is incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and consistently high quality. You can tell there’s real attention to detail in both the flavors and the craftsmanship.
The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance — relaxed but refined — making it great for both a casual dinner and a special night out. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing.

I came in on a Saturday for a late lunch early dinner. Easy to find parking. I was promptly seated and asked what I wanted to drink. I got the crab rangoons (easily the best I have ever had) and two rolls. A bowl of clear soup was brought over. Everything was perfect. Service was great. Everything was very clean.

First time to eat there today. We ordered snowcrab avocado salad, takayoki, fat J roll, crunchy dynamite roll snd salmon roll. Everything was delicious and fresh. The fish in my crunchy dynamite roll and salmon roll were big. The takayoki was crispy in the outside and gooey inside the octopus was soft too not chewy. There is a soft background music that was nice. Not too loud. Good for conversations. Highly recommend this place. One of the best places to eat good quality sushi in the Northshore.

Mata Sushi is hands down the best restaurant on the Northsore! We loved everything, owners are sweet and make sure your dining experience is awesome! Food was delicious, fresh, and great flavors, staff very nice and attentive, and gave great advices about our choices. Atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, we will definitely go back, and highly recommend to all our friends!

This is a great place for a lunch date. Perfect, quiet. The owner is so awesome. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable on their menu. The basic rolls are cheap, but the house special rolls are a bit more pricey. The presentation of food was top tier. Little things like presentation for sushi are everything. The biggest flex for a restaurant is the presentation of their food, portions, and quality, and Sushi Mata has all 3. We will definitely be going here more frequently even though it’s a 20-minute drive to mandeville. It’s worth it!!!! Needless to say, we enjoyed it, and oh, order HOT sake, you’ll thank me later !

Came here for lunch today after finding out that they have Japanese Curry on the menu, which is something I’ve always wanted to try but nowhere around here served. I can honestly say it was one of the best bowls of food that I’ve ever enjoyed. The chicken was crispy and tender, the sauce was incredible and full of flavor, the rice was perfect. It was everything I hoped it would be.
Also, the waitress (maybe the owner, not sure) noticed that I didn’t initially have a ton of sauce on my plate and told me to let her know if I wanted more. At first, I didn’t want to be a bother, but she insisted and brought me out a fresh bowl of extra curry.
I cannot wait to go back to this place and try more of my favorites. Amazing food, great service, great vibes. 10/10.

Mata is a great new sushi place! It’s next to Joe’s shoe store in the heart of Mandeville. The sushi is very fresh and amazing! The prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly and attentive! I will definitely be a regular here!
