I moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and I was so excited to have a sushi restaurant so close because it’s my favorite food but this will be my last visit to Haiku.
I use to be a weekly patron but since their very talented chef left it has quickly gone downhill.
The previous chef created delicious, flavorful, and well made rolls. The new chef however has served lack luster flavor and poorly wrapped rolls.
The menu could also use an update since they seem to just cross things off they decide not to serve anymore.
The server was less than pleased to have to wait on me, I was brought water, offered no other drinks, order taken, food brought to me and asked once if the food was okay. The next time I saw her was the check.
The restaurant is pretty but the music was soooo loud I couldn’t think. The rolls were sub par. The nyc roll was on the menu as salmon but was served with smoked salmon which I could live my life without and die happy never eating smoked salmon again.
I will go back to driving out of my way for better sushi.

We came on a Monday night. It was dead except for a party, us and a few to-go orders. They kept playing the same song repeatedly, and the lighting was fairly dark. Service was fine and food came out pretty quickly. The vegetable and shrimp tempura was good. Overall, the sushi and squid salad just didn’t seem as fresh/high quality and felt a little over priced. The sushi was hit and miss for us. This wouldn’t be a go-to spot for us for sushi, but I would give their other dishes a try.

I cannot express how amazing this restaurant is. Especially since the new management took over. The food was already amazing but now it’s even better! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic sushi experience. Since the new management, the service and the atmosphere has significantly improved and throughly impressed me. One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for good sushi/ authentic food, with an amazing experience, this is the place to go!

Worst dine in experience I’ve ever had, the old haiku would never. We were the only people in the restaurant. Drinks took over 20 minutes to get, pretty sure the sushi chef left mid shift, and my waitress had to make my sushi that ended up being room temperature and over an hour later. Haiku mind you we have been coming here for years before the management change. And there was people in your restaurant decorating watching this poor waitress struggle pretty sure it was the owner..

I ordered a large Tom Yum seafood soup with an extra $7 charge for more seafood, but it barely had any to start with. For $22, I mostly got imitation crab in tiny shreds and just a few small shrimp. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place—it’s overpriced and doesn’t give you enough for what you pay. There are definitely many better options around the metro.

Love the vegan options – the sweet potato roll and Buddha roll are both fantastic (although sometimes on the small side), and the different crispy tofu options are also wonderful (and enormous). Atmosphere is nice and peaceful and the staff are always friendly.

Ordered the Tiger roll and it was really good but took an hour and a half to get. was with a group of people and they all got their food within 30 minutes. i asked for a discount and got 5% more off but not sure if it was enough for how long i waited. i will definitely come back during lunch and with fewer people. my first experience with haiku wasn’t the best.

Had a final hoorah at haiku before they close/change ownership. Have always adored the staff, loved the food, and have been coming here for over 10 years since we were in high school! Thank you for everything haiku

Update review Sept 3, 2025 down 4 stars.
How can so much change in just one month?!
Usually I come in and order 3 sweet potato tempura rolls. They’re so large and tender. It usually takes a white to go box to hold it all but today it’s a small regular sushi platter for 3 rolls. I took it back because I thought I got the wrong order (some of the sweet potato is white . I honestly thought it was crab). One employee told me this is how they always make it and I showed them a google pic of what it normally looks like. The cashier said they used to have larger parboiled strips. The other confirmed this is how they make it now with the new chef (which makes sense because I heard someone say they didn’t know how to make a sweet potato roll. So if they’re new to the store they wouldn’t know). I said ok thank you, I’ll take it this time but I won’t order it again. What I meant was I’ll not come back again. This is what I get for trying to order food next to a college campus maybe? Lesson learned. It was nice while it lasted.
Original 5 star review from August 6, 2025: The food is very good. I really enjoy the 3 for $15 lunch special. This place has the best sweet potato tempura roll and green curry I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend
