We enjoyed Back Forty after church Sunday. The menu had a great selection of bbq and southern classics. My wife chose the hamburger steak w/ a baked potato and greens. I chose the fried fish blue plate w/ high puppies grits and potato salad. All were delicious and fairly priced.
You’ll notice my grits look a bit off. Before I took the picked a mixed some my wife’s greens into my grits to take my own “grits n greens.” They were delicious and I’d recommend this little southern upgrade to your meal.

The cold slaw was so nasty people in Simpson county can’t make good cold slaw. We had pulled pork sandwiches there were no seasoning or bbq sauce on it. It tasted like it was cooked in a crockpot. We spent $35 for food we didn’t eat. I’m surprised my dog would eat it. Would not recommend.

Cozy little place with EXCELLENT food. The waitress was always on point when we needed something. We had the burnt beef ends and they were delicious! Don’t let the small restaurant fool you. This is a can’t miss place for lunch or dinner. 5 stars across the board!!

Food was excellent!! We got ribs & burnt ends, so good & tender! Sides were very good too. Had so much we had to take it with us. Plus we got a banana pudding to go. Well worth getting off the road for!

We had been in the area camping & looking for a barbecue place for two weeks. We finally found this one on Google after the others closed at two, wasn’t open, or didn’t even have ribs and every time we called so we decided to drive to Mendenhall and give it a shot. We are so glad we did. The ribs were fall off the bone good. The burnt ends were very good. The sides that we got the coleslaw and the cheese grits were really good. We will definitely be back to this establishment. Mendenhall has a great barbecue place and I hope they do well there. This is some of the best barbecue we have eaten.
