We smoke just about anything! Everything is house smoked and made right here on site. We have a variety of rubs for our meats and a sauce recommendation for each. ( we also sell both the rubs and sauces). There are specials each day that is not on our regular menu, find out online at our web page. Choose either the Afton location or Thayne right from that site. Smoked Prime Rib every Fri. Available by 3 pm. Smoked potatoes as a side choice with Prime on Fridays. Full bar is available with drink specials everyday. You may come and have a beverage , no food requirement, although the yummy smells are hard to resist. We now have fries and appetizers! We are super excited for our second location and serving Afton!

Overall review: it’s okay, about what you’d expect. They had a fun drink and appetizer options (go for those) but food is mostly mediocre and kind of bland.
Great: Pretzel appetizers, they have fun mocktails, big and fun/cute menu
Good: mac & cheese (thick and creamy), onion rings, huckleberry lemonade, bbq chicken, sweet potato fries, portion sizes!
Mediocre: ribs, pulled pork, brisket, prime rib dip sandwich, corn short ribs, sauces
Bad: Campfire burgers (overly processed patty/not real ground beef, it was like a beef chicken nugget reheated).
*There is an 18% gratuity added for groups over 6 but they said the waiter doesn’t get it for tips so you’re getting double tipped.

We got the pulled pork sandwich with smoked mac n cheese and sweet potato fries. The sandwich came with Carolina gold sauce, which is kind of a mustard or vinegar based bbq sauce, along with pickled onions and pickle slices. The meat itself was a little plain, just smoked meat, though it was moist. The buns were also toasted.
Many people mentioned the smoked mac n cheese, but it wasn’t particularly special or different from a creamy white cheddar sauce, so I don’t get it. It was okay. The sweet potato fries were pretty good and came with a choice of sauce – we got fry sauce.
It seemed a little on the pricey side for a single sandwich, side, and fries, so we shared it. We just did pickup, so we didn’t eat inside, but the staff were really friendly and helpful, and it seemed like a nice casual place to eat. There were various extra things on display to buy from local crafters/bakers, just like a lot of places in Afton.
It’s nice to have some food variety in town. We would probably eat there again.

Stopped here today and had a pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries, potato salad, and smoked mac and cheese. My wife and I loved it. Very tasty. The Carolina gold and spicy bbq sauce were excellent. Great service. We will be stopping there again next time we are in Afton.

The meat (chicken, ribs, and brisket) was unfortunately very bland. Cooked fine otherwise, though it wasn’t warm by the time it got to our table, despite a bit of a wait (not a bad wait, but seems like maybe the meat ended up waiting on the fries perhaps?).

Worth the stop. If this comes up on your search for lunch or dinner and they’re open you need to swing in. Super nice people and the food is excellent. We had the brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and sausage. Recommend the beans and Mac/cheese for sides.
They are getting a fryer and grill soon, so expect the menu to change in the near future.
They don’t have beer on draft, but instead a wide variety of canned beer and cocktails. Bonus: the beer class is frosty!

2026 review: We were disappointed by our return visit. The menu has expanded significantly and the actual barbecue meat quality has declined significantly. We had a three meat platter. The sausage was excellent as were the sides (beans and hush puppies) but the brisket was gray and dry like it had sat under a warming plate for too long. The ribs were ok. We’re a little sad as this was a go to stop on the way to Jackson.
2023 review: This place was empty when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 3, but it seems like it’s a new location of the 225 in Thayne. The food is fabulous. I had the prime rib quesadilla and my husband had the Cuban. Both were specials.

225 BBQ & More is a mediocre BBQ restaurant in Afton. The brisket was extremely dry and bordering on jerky at the edges. The ribs were flavorful, but also dry. The fruit salad was drenched in syrup or water/juice one. The baked potato was not cooked through and still tough. Lastly, fresh brewed iced tea is not available as I feel should be at any BBQ establishment. Overall, it was clean and friendly, but don’t expect 5 star BBQ here.

Just up here for a HONEYMOON! No big deal haha this place was awesome. Very nice staff and owners bought a round to celebrate our marriage. How cool, that was the vibes we got here. Close, friendly family vibes. The BBQ was absolutely some of the best ive ever had. The beer and drink selections were on point. Tvs with sports, food, and anything else you would want to watch. Very clean and organized, there refrigerators and space was used very good! will be back to see everyone! Devry I hope I was close was our waitress and she was awesome.
